Awesome! Here's hoping that they release it as individual dvds with an artbox rather than the cheap looking thinpaks they've been doing with new stuff recently >.> btw am i the only one that thought the trailer was all kinds of painful?

And please.. no Vic Mignogna this time around. -crosses fingers-

Does anyone if the box set is going to be dubbed? (Stupid question, but just want to make sure.)

The trailer, in my opinion, was pretty bad. The voice over was kind of meh, and made the show sound extremely corny.

FUNi does bilingual releases (both english and japanese audio-tracks) for everything they release, (except Shin-chan, which was dub-only due to some licensing-issue) so yeah, it's gonna be dubbed.

Anyway, this is great news. I've been hoping for FUNi to get this show for quite a while now.
I also agree that they should change their packaging-style, though... Seriously, if they're gonna release them in 2-disc sets with 13 episodes, can't they at least put those two discs in the same case, like they did with the original Dragonball?
...Though personally, I'd rather they increased the disc-count to three discs per set, so we'd have an average of 4 episodes per disc rather than 6/7.

I haven't seen the trailer, (damned region-lock!) but I'll just mention that their One Piece-trailers are extremely cheezy as well. Not like it matters, I'm definitely getting it regardless of how bad the trailer is.

Yeah, that's the real trailer.

However, I don't think that was FUNimation's doing. It seems like a trailer that was pitched out by the Japanese to help pitch the series to foreign territories. Having seen some of TMS's Trailers, this is very similar. The trailer is marked "Japanese Trailer" too and there seems to be the fact that FUNimation's name is not located on the trailer at all.

So take that as you may...

...Although, I will agree with guys that it was pretty terrible. ^^''

I told you guys about this months ago before it was official, but yeah...meh.
Even if the dub is just okay, atleast it'll be easy to find. And i get the feeling this will end up on Adult Swim eventually.

Ahh... it got licensed...

Right now I'm having doubts about FUNimation doing the dubs, but my other half is telling me to give it a chance and I might actually like it.( But after watching the trailer...I couldn't even watch the first minute of it....I died a little inside)

No, their trailers are always incredibly cheesy and misrepresentative of the dubs they actually produce.

True, One Piece turned out better than it was given in the trailers. I wouldn't pass judgement until the final product is released. I mean you didn't even hear any of the character voices so how can you make an accurate judgement. They probably got some scrub narrator to just pull off a quick trailer.

Yes its a cheaply made trailer, but they probably just wanted to get the advertisement out quick. Also you haven't heard any of the character voices yet. Also Funimation is not a complete laughing stock when it comes to dubs. The Mushishi dub was beyond great, it was superb and I think it was better than the original. Its probably is my favorite dub-over work of all time. Beck, Full Metal Alchemist, Gunslinger Girl and Lupin the III are darn good dubs as well.

Well at least its nice to have the chance to buy it when it comes over. Will see how the dub ends up doing. Could be fine or they could make the voice actor for Black Star the same one as for Naruto....god help us all.

Though they've made watching the last quarter of the show a pain in the ass.

You know, i appreciate that they kept him called Shinigami, but keeping sama felt really really out of place. I dont think i could watch this without bursting into laughter.

Yeah, no-else gets the honorifics. I suppose it's because they need to convey respect and/or Shinigami's authority?

A sickle is not a scythe. Do they think no-one will notice the mistake if they call Maka a 'sickle specialist'? No idea where they got that from. And calling Tsubaki an 'Assassin's' Weapon doesn't sound right either.

I'm just being picky from what I've seen of the trailer. All things considered, I think it's a good thing the series getting licensed. It'll get wider recognition, which is positive.

Well its not that big of a "WTF". The scythe came after the Sickle and was basically designed after the sickle as more of an upgrade that would be more useful for farming. As such Sickles were used in combat before sycthes were and so calling someone a sickle specialist/sickle combantent or whatever. Many variations of sickles were envented for combat/farming purposes as time went on. For example sickle swords and scythes. So since they are in most respects they same typoe of tool its not that unheard of to call someone who weilds a sickle/scythe or any other type of variation a sickle specialist.

I don't find it any weirder than someone "mistakingly" calling a hatchet and axe.
