The backlog won't be that big like it used to be in the old days. I think they're up to 13 dubbing studios now and they flew through a ton of dubs in 2003 and early 2004.

As for when things get done, remember that a lot has to do with the licensors as well in terms of approvals and so forth. The Slayers OVAs ended up being delayed for years while waiting for the Japanese companies which were being bought and sold several time to settle before they could actually get the masters to do anything with them.

I don't expect the number of titles they're acquiring to go down though. They've got a cable network to feed now and the allure of that is certainly getting them more titles and more varied works. Hopefully more older shows as well.

Godzilla attack, maybe? I guess I just get saddened when things get bought and delayed (still waiting for my Cutey Honey TV *sulks*) If they don't have the staff to put stuff out in a decent time frame, they should cut down on the glut of titles that they are buying IMO. (I am not saying this because I want things for free, either)

There's always the threat of earthquake of course. If it hits the "right" area, the bulk of anime studios can be taken out in the blink of an eye.

Economics wise, there's always a chance for the recession and other factors to really hit and tank a couple of major studios without any advance notice and that'd kill the supply of new shows coming out for some time. So on and so forth.

Well, one thing is definately for sure and that would be be that all of you people who are whining and complaining about evil ADV will still have lots of chances to watch the last episode..one way or the other. It just so happens that one of those ways will not be tolerated by animesuki law.
What i'm trying to say is: it's your own choice what to do from now on but the guidelines around here should be clear enough.

Lets do some math shall we...
All of their 2002 releases are out and almost all of their 2003 are out. It is now 3rd quarter 2004.... This would mean that in 2 years from now... (2006)... mathematically... All of their 2004 shows will be out. (Note that even some of the shows on this list from 2004 are already in dubbing and will be out early 2005...).

I don't see Akihabara Dennou Gumi on the list. It's one of my favorite shows. ADV licensed it quite some time ago; although it is supposed to come out soon I haven't seen any product yet.

Cyberteam in Akihabara Vol. 1 is slated for a 11/16/2004 release.

As mentioned above, it got a date just this past week. Once it gets a formal street date it comes off of the "announced but no release date" listing.
