Sad Animes

Hello, I'm somewhat into the type of anime that comes in contact with the sad type of animes.
Ive recently just finished watching School Days, and really liked it. Other animes I've watched that falls into this catergory would be Air, Assate no Houkou, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, which I also enjoyed very much watching them. So...any suggestions of any Sad animes? Also, it can be any type of genre, I enjoy any none the less.

SaiKano and Grave of the Fireflies

(actually, I haven't watched them but I heard they're very depressing)

if you like Air, then you might like Kanon 2006 (or named, Kanon 2). Each arc in the anime is beautiful and melancholy, the arc involving the main female character Ayu is especially touching. I cried watching that!

Saikano is sad, but not really That depressing. Grave of the fireflies is though. I saw that once, and can't bear to watch it a second time. *cry*

Fate/stay night or Gantz .

Grave of the fireflies... its sad, i loved it while watching it, but nothing to remember it by.
Saikano is just depressing.... how can you say its not? It was depressing from the start.
Sola's story development is vague and basically just put in a tragic ending at the last part which I cant even make sense of why the characters had to do that -_-.
Elfen Lied has some humor to lift the stress and emotional issues that flow along with the story. My favorite anime

Thank you for your replies people. I've seen most of the ones you guys have mentioned, but I havn't watch Grave of the Fireflies yet, neither have I watched Kanon2006. I'll give those two a try, thanks.
Also, just wondering, do i need to watch the first Kanon to watch the 2nd??

No it's not necessary, and frankly not recommended. They both tell the same story except that the 2006 version is much better.

I would reccomend Sailor Moon, Fancy LaLa, Princess Tutu, Baby and Me (Manga) and Free Collars Kingdom (Manga).

I'll second SaiKano and Elfen Lied, two of the anime on my top ten list.

It's not a sequel, it's a remake.

Scrapped Princess, it did end very positive though. Don't know that much about it though. I have watched the first series, but kinda got stuck to some other series, so yeah.

Also I second to Noir, Kanon and Fate/Stay Night.

Full Moon wo Sagashite is pretty sad, although you have to get past the ultra-cute-ness and the filler episodes that are at the beginning... The manga is pretty awesome too, not that you were asking for manga.

Barefoot Gen was sad... It's a movie about the Hiroshima bomb...

Iriya no Sora, UFO no natsu is one that people seem to recommend a lot. I didn't like it much, but that's just me...

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora was kind of depressing...

Jigoku Shoujo (and the second season, Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori) was... well, it's usually classified as horror or whatever, but I personally found it really sad... revenge and all that... it's not really horror-ish at all... dark, but not horror-ish? ...yay Jigoku Shoujo?

and that concludes my suggestions!
