Well it's a little better than the Ace Combat-ish bit i was considering: (Because everyone has already thought of/done an Ace Combat Muv Luv crossover at some point. Really.)
Quote:
Just another day in the farthest f---ing north air base in the US of A, Leon Kuze inwardly grumbled. You'd never tell from the deadpan chiselled expression on his face, japanese eyes hidden by dark ray-bans.

A breath turned cold, and Leon swore they turned to ice and fell right in front of him.

All the Infinities were waiting for were replacement supplies. Their F-22 Raptor wing couldn't fly until the necessary upgrades to the oxygen systems were updated. It was too risky, given the aircraft's capabilities for high speed and maneuverability. Didn't seem fair that a plane that ensured it's pilot would have every advantage in dogfight would end up killing said pilot through oxygen loss. Ah, Raptor. you're such a possessive b--ch.

A low drone could be heard, and Leon could see the aircraft on the horizon. "About time."

Then he stopped. The sound wasn't right, it was lower, more earthy than a Hercules. The outline looked different, too. Kuze lowered his glasses.

Wait, those aren't C-130--

Antonov An-12s. Dropping paratroops. With Frogfoots as escort.

Leon's sunglasses fell.

"---get in the air," Kuze gasped, spinning around and bolting for the hangars. Screaming at the pilots all the way. "GETINTHEAIRGETINTHEAIRGETINTHEAIRRR!!!"
...having read Stephen Coonts novels in high school, you tend to have this mental image of how air combat fiction should read like...

Have been brainstorming about a Mig-28 (Extreme Refurbished Mig-27) for Theodore, whom now is a retired test-player during in my Extra fic. But because I suck at mecha creating, and only a few biography about this fictional aircraft, so all I could do is this:

- Upgraded Communication System, similar to Irisdine's Mig-21 and J-11's attena.

- Blade Vane on shoulders and legs, modeled after Mig-29.

- Bigger ammunition storage.

- Enlarged Jump Unit with a more powerful generator and reserved tank.

- Thicker, flat black armor (from Top Gun). Strengthen frame.

- Operation-by-Light.

Any suggestion? Especially the name.

Ok, Alastor, I need your input on this:

- 1930s: A mysterious figure, "Zero", organized the liberation of Korea from Japan. Using the help from the Soviet, America, Europe (notably Irish), he finally won it after 1947 years. The independent war off Korea inspired many similar rebellion of Asian countries.

- 1941: Emperor Hirohoto was assassinated. Using the situation, Makabe Rai - a democratic social leader organized a coalition with various leftist and communist and create a revolution which destroy Japanese Constitutional monarchy for a true Repuplic Democratic.

- China Civil War: Because Japan don't participate in WWII, the Civil War happen much earlier. With the aid of Japan, Chinese Communist and Nationlist Leftist won the war. The same thing happen with various Asia countries, which lead to the independent from Europe (which are in war) and a Repuplic government.

I've not decided on when this might happen, but it is likely they will become further involved with certain characters.

Toying with an idea. This won't happen until much later, but...

Quote:
"You're declaring war on the world."

"Not just the BETA. And not just the world." Wilkes was drunk. Stone-cold drunk. But his words were weighted with the certainty of a sober man. "The entire universe. God. The Devil. I'm declaring war on everything. I'll design the means to do it. Take the fight to the BETA and their gods. You just watch."

Amusement seemed to cross Yuuko's face. "If you do, I would like to see how you do it."
I blame Hans Zimmer for making me write this.
http://youtu.be/vLqKSv1F42A

And dammit, why am I having scene writing ideas for every part of the fic EXCEPT the one I need to finish?!?

@wave

That reminds me...this is what happens when you stay locked up on intercontinental flight, watching J.J Abrams movies.

Yuuya:...Why is there a woman in that torpedo?

"Katarzyna Sandek": There are men and women in all those torpedoes; I put them there.

Yuuya: Who the hell are you?

Katarzyna: ...A remnant of the times long past. Genetically engineered to be superior, as to lead others to victory in times of war....But we were condemned. Exiled as criminals. For centuries we slept, hoping that when we awoke, things would be...different....But as a result of the destruction of Kyoto colony, your United Nations begun to aggressively scout distant corners of the Galaxy; my ship was found adrift, I alone revived.

Yuuya: I looked up Katarzyna Sandek, until a year ago she didn't exist, and Sandek was never married.

Katarzyna: "Katarzyna Sandek" was a smoke screen created the moment I was awoken by your Admiral Sandek, in order to advance his cause. My true name...is...Kriska.

Yuuya: Why a UN Admiral would need help from a 300 year-old frozen woman?

Kriska: Because I am better.

Yuuya: At what?

Kriska: Everything.

@Fire

Most European countries wouldn't help a rebellion in Asia at this point in time, since it could possibly backfire on their own colonies, and that's a big No-No at the time. Soviets and Americans? Pick one, because these two never trusted each other, and most likely wouldn't support a cause the other one did.

2.)Killing Emperor changes nothing, because he has relatives. There's a line of succession in Japan, they would get just a new Emperor.

Communists on the other hand, would be annihilated. Not just destroyed - they would all be killed, their families killed, their pets killed. You literally can't kill a figure that entire country worships and expect that you can rule the country afterwards. At the very best, this Makabe would have to eliminate the Communists himself. Otherwise, you'd have a military rebellion with full public backing.

This also ignores the fact that Japanese did not really trust democracy at this point, and democratic Japanese government would be either incredibly corrupt, or very weak. Either way, Japan would quickly fold into a camp of another state, like the U.S

3.) See 2. Plus, as history showed, a lot of the new states would fight each other as often as they did against Europeans (China and Vietnam versus Cambodia, Indonesia vs. Malaysia).

Shh... So maybe I should make Makabe great grandfather kill the emperor for his throne - Senjirou's older brother is now the emperor who is influenced by Ikaruga.

Choose American since Hirohito is deemed "dangerous" to their interest, and I need somewway to make the F-2 Zero Viper got mass-produced.

How about Japanese finally won over China and the whole East Asia?

And I need someway to ease the tension between US and USSR.

A little something I wrote with lots of help from some friends of mine over the spacebattles forum.

Yui sat alone in her office, leaning on her desk with her face buried in her hands. She'd just come out of an exhaustively long four-hour meeting discussing the future about the XFJ project.

Someone knocked on the door.

"Come," Yui said, without lifting her face from her hands. She assumed that it was one of the base's ensigns delivering her new paperwork. There was always new paperwork.

"If this is a bad time, Lieutenant Takamura, I can come back."

Yui felt her heart skip a beat. She hadn't heard that voice since the end of the Red Shift incident.

"No, it can't be him. How did he get in!? We tightened our security!"

Yui slowly lifted her head to look at the individual standing across from her. He was wearing the uniform of a maintenance worker. The same type she had grown accustomed to seeing him in when he was working in Yukon Base. He eyes slowly made their way to his face. There was no mistake about it. The individual in front of her was in fact Kurogane Takeru!

Takeru took a moment to study the young woman staring at him from the other side of the desk. In memory, she was nearly always immaculate during the normal day-to-day operations of the base, every line of her uniform crisp as if freshly-pressed, her hair neatly arranged, and not a hint of fatigue in her features or bearing. Starfleet would doubtlessly have approved - former cadet-instructor Spock certainly had. It was only when things got very, very complicated - or when Yuuya was around - that the thoroughly-professional facade of Lieutenant Takamura started to slip and reveal the lovely, lively young woman who sheltered beneath it. Starfleet and Spock might not have entirely approved, but Kirk certainly had, after seeing some of the footage Takeru obtained during his months-long undercover stint.

Yui's mask hadn't fallen away completely, but at the moment, it was hanging by threads and prayers. And unless his nose deceived him, also coffee.

"Rough day?" Takeru asked.

Yui never took her eyes off of Takeru. Her caution was quite understandable. She saw what he was capable of when he easily neutralized the terrorists during the Red Shift incident. He didn't appear to have a weapon on him but Yui knew that he didn't need one, not when he could easily break bone with his bare hands.

"Lieutenant, I'm not here to hurt you. I just want to talk."

Yui narrowed her eyes.

"Forgive me for doubting it. You didn't exactly leave on good terms."

Takeru winced a bit from that "Okay, I deserved that. But can you at least hear me out first before you point your sidearm at me or use your katana to try and cut my head off?"

Yui deliberately relaxed the hand that had, without her complete awareness, started to move towards her gun. That was foolish, she chided her over-trained reflexes. You've seen him move; at this range, you'd never hit him.

...and do you really want to shoot another friend, if you can avoid it?

It surprised her a bit that, in spite of everything, she still considered him a friend. Not a professional response to meeting someone who was officially wanted on charges of espionage, terrorism, and being absent without leave. Not professional at all.

Human, though.

Yui sighed and folded her hands to keep them out of mischief. "You have five minutes, or until someone else knocks. After that... no promises."

Takeru smiled "Thank you. May I sit down?"

"You may."

Takeru takes a seat. He pauses for a moment.

"I suppose you want an explanation to my actions a month ago?"

Yui scoffs at that "Thats an understatement! You assisted us in neutralizing the terrorists, freed the hostages, then you somehow stole the base's entire database, made us think you were trying to escape in a commandeered TSF when in reality you were somehow remote controlling it while making your escape through means we still do not know, left me and Argos flight a goodbye message that doesn't really explain your actions, you left the XFJ team schematics on how to improve the Shianui Second's performance to that of a YF-23 while not changing the current maintenance cost and to top it all off you left me a disk containing classified information that I wished I didn't know! Do you have any idea how much headaches you forced me to endure because of your actions!!?"

Takeru shakes his head while smiling, seemingly finding the whole thing amusing "Nope."

Yui's reaction to that answer was to slam her forehead down on the desk with a bang.

Muv-Luv: Ultimate - Prologue

Thanks for all the input, wave, Alastor, Fire, and everyone else.

The fic will be called "Muv-Luv: Ultimate". I'm sure many will understand the meaning behind "Ultimate". Anyway, here we go:

Quote:
“Are you sure the findings are accurate?” the CIA interrogator, under the spook and plain name of ‘Jones’, asked the mission’s commander, who was sweating and and breathing heavily under the stress. Barely forty minutes after the discovery, the CIA, NSA and even the NRO were already all over the mission control’s installation, interviewing everyone, confiscating video and imagery, taking over the controls and computers, taking all data units, taking all notes and papers, and reviewing everything in the screens, notes, data units and computers.
“See them for yourself.” The commander said back, “The footage is accurate.”

Jones’ frown was constant, as he walked to the side, “Are you sure it wasn’t a malfunction? Perhaps a rock? A falling rock, or an atmospheric event?”
“Sir, the footage is accurate,” the commander insisted, “It was no rock at all. There’s no reason for that to happen in the place we were. Nor was it the atmosphere: our systems didn’t pick up anything out of the ordinary.”
“So…what you’re saying…is that there were…?”
The commander interrupted Jones, “I’m not saying anything. I’m just saying that everything in the footage, the photographs, and the sensor data, is accurate. We didn’t alter anything, it wasn’t the Russians, it wasn’t the Chinese. There is something, or someone, there.”
Jones put his hand on his chin, thinking, “Why didn’t…this thing, make some sort of contact then? Why did we lose contact with Viking 2 almost immediately after the sighting?”

The commander used his right hand to remove some sweat from his forehead, and shook his head a bit, under pressure, “We don’t know. It’s possible it tried, and Viking 2 reacted negatively towards it. It’s possible that it was clueless to our probe and caused it to malfunction. It’s possible it saw it as a threat and disabled it on purpose. There’s an infinity of possibilities regarding what could’ve happened. Perhaps if we sent another mission to Mars…”
The interview went on for two more hours, until the commander was released, under the condition to never divulge these findings ever again.
Similarly, everyone else’s lips were sealed; those who tried to go to the press with these findings after the official story was announced were never heard from again.

After the interview, Jones and his team went to Area 51, along with the other CIA, NSA and NRO teams that had taken all the data and evidence on the Mars findings.

Every single review on the evidence simply pointed to the obvious: there was something, that resembled a lifeform, in the surface of Mars.
If anyone knew this, especially, the Soviets, the situation would go completely out of control: religious fundamentalists would wreck havoc with their radical, apocalyptic beliefs; Americans, Soviets and Chinese alike, not to mention other factions, would try to effectively contact this (or these) beings to turn them to their favor; the infinity of situations would be too much to handle. But the most important issue was that the Soviets would send a mission to Mars just to make themselves look as the first humans that made contact with the aliens. If contact was successful, it would be a severe blow to America in the Cold War.
There was no other choice, and it was obvious: the very president himself ordered the intelligence community to seal all data, records, video and imagery relating to the Viking 2 Discovery, somewhere, in a dark, deep vault in Area 51, where the USAF and intelligence assets would keep it safe, until the time was right.

This would also be the first of two warnings for humanity of the incoming hell that it would suffer for five decades. A hell that could have been prevented.
Didn't like some of the wording in the last part where all the "Implications" regarding the exposure of the "discovery" takes place but, better than nothing.

Not to mention that this is just to get this all out of the way for 1994.

Already working with the first actual chapter.
