So, I'm a bit confused about these enemies of theirs. The things are supposed to be so dangerous they wiped out civilization once, right? Yet in the battle in this episode they didn't attack once. They just flew or sailed forward in straight lines, completely ignoring people they were passing (including ones that were moving pretty damned slow and were obviously unshielded, ie: obvious targets), didn't fire a single weapon, and pretty much acted like nothing more than automated target dummies. I'm going to label the one injured person we saw as a friendly-fire injury, because those "enemies" never gave any sign of doing anything except just heading straight forward and ignoring everything else.

Hmmm... I suppose something was shooting at pistol-girl when she was standing on ice in the water, although considering how easily they could have gotten her when she was slowly floating backwards through the air not paying attention a few minutes earlier while they just flew by and ignored her I'm not giving them points for that.

That's implying that the aliens are as armed to the teeth as Murica, which isn't entirely true. Just like ants who only have a certain group with defensive capabilities, there will be aliens that are as powerful as a pigeon or a farmer with a rusty scythe.

Why? They are scouts and fodder. They probably exist to gauge the strength of the human resistance and give out data about the enemy. Some mooks can also exist as resource gatherers like those in Aquarion.

In other news, it's interesting that Kanegawa is the only school that has some obviously important characters other than the leaders (ie: people with unique character designs).

To be fair to Random Wanderer, the enemies did seem like little more than shooting targets in all the "present day" scenes. Now, it's only Episode 1, so it's not a big deal to me yet. But I hope the enemies get more dangerous/difficult in future episodes.

That wasn't half bad actually. I mean it’s a fairly generic set up for sure, but the characters were actually interesting in the way they interacted with each other. And it was kinda funny seeing these superpowered highschoolers act just like the stupid competitive chuunibyou highschoolers that you'd expect them to. It's also nice to see an MC that starts off with a balance of flaws and good points. I think the story makes it clear that the MC has the complete wrong attitude and work ethic but it's balanced by the fact that he's not a particularly bad person to other people and that he's kind and caring towards his sister(?) who herself is likeable for being the mature teamplayer.

With the opening of giant alien structure doing the [Independence Day] movie lazer blast and the ending of the bird going through a sort of portal in the sky...
Why... does this feel like Human already lost and the Aliens already control the entire Planet and is projecting fake reality for entertainment?... IE: The Matrix. |

Ok, the first episode wasn't that bad. And it can go everywhere. But the character interactions were a bit dull, I mean I don't see any interesting dynamic so far, nothing that won't become repetitive after the second time you see it. As the MC's complains, they got old already.
The feeling is like it's missing a character that can go against the MC. I'm expecting her to be introduced the next episode. So the only interesting thing so far is, I agree, that it's look like a fake world, matrix like. But set up by humans. If they have been put into forced sleep maybe this is just the training program until they wont wake up and start fighting the real enemy. And interesting turn could be that the MC in the real world won't be powerful, but considering the MC it could easily degrade fast pulling out another Eren, so really, no thanks!!

I got feeling this anime going to be another trainswreck anime, multi-writers never being good news.
the contents is confusing and the characters are bland but their hostile interaction prevented from being dull. imho Qualidea code might better in game form than anime form. |
