Atelier Lulua: The Alchemist of Arland 4 (PS4/Switch)

https://gematsu.com/2018/10/atelier-...for-ps4-switch

New Atelier Arland game featuring Rorona's daughter. Mel Kishida is back designing the characters.

New entry in the Arland timeline? Sounds good to me. I'll give it a look when it comes out. Though I am backlogged 2 atelier games right now anyway.

Ditzy Rorona had a daughter? That's surprising. Wonder if they'll go the adoption route. Somehow I think that's what's going to happen.

I personally wish we'd get more Dusk timeline games. Those were the best games in the series IMO.

Agreed, if they were gonna do this they might as well as given us a new Dusk gameto at least wrap up the story and answer some of the questions they asked.

Add PC to platform list - Arland trilogy also will be on PC.

Also, obligatory "who is father?" question.

Obviously either adopted or alchemy shenanigans.

Hmm, how many games of this series were ever on Nintendo consoles before the Switch? And now they decide to bring it here?
Well, it isn't just this series, but it always amuses me. Never hurts, I guess, but multi-platforms are always kicked down the list of games to buy.

Both adoption and alchemy are cop outs. Sterk x Rorona or nothing!

Not sure of the exact number but I know of at least 3 DS exclusives and one GBA exclusive. There might have been GB and GBA ports as well.

You never know, they might do +1 to Arland +1 to Dusk and +1 to Mysterious.

From main series only Rorona got ported to 3DS (it was in chibi style so it was kinda remake?), there were some side games on Nintendo consoles but only one of them was released in the West. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atelie...eo_game_series)

I wanted Dusk... or a remaster/remake of the Iris series. I liked the stakes in those, and with how hard it is to get to play PS2 games (especially since my backwards compatible PS3 conked out) a lot of people won't get to experience it.

I also know there's a mobile game for the franchise coming out soon, but I don't think its leaving Japan.

Why not buy a refurbished PS2? I got one recently as I wanted to play Dragon Quest 8 again and it runs beautifully. Only cost me $100 too. It was a good deal. Especially if you have a library of old PS2 games you'd like to play again sometime.

I pmed the answer since it's pretty off topic.

Anyway, on topic, I honestly preferred the Arland series as the Dusk series was just too darn depressing. A dying world on the way to extinction thanks to human hubris. Now that I wouldn't play it mind you, I have all three of the dusk trilogy and played them all. Just if I could choose I'd prefer a more light hearted outing.

I think the bigger question is did whoever marry Rorona survive Astrid?

I mean, this is a series where Rorona was turned into a freaking loli because the devs think she's becoming too old. You think they would let her have sex with a man?

Wasn't there an ending in Plus where she was turned back into a teenager?

Turning her back into a teenager, with ruined memories, was in the original game. There was also an ending where all three of the Arland heroines got turned into teens as well. This one had Rorona's memories preserved. It was turning her back to her real adult age that was the extra ending added to plus.

it's ,ot exactly on topic but kinda is. i never played any atelier game before and i'd like to start one. i'd prefer to play it on switch so i'd be either wait this one or play the currently available lydie and suelle one. what should i do ? is it even ok to start from one of those or will i not understand the story ?
