My science fiction recommendations would begin with Dennou Coil, one of the best anime of the past decade. Another rather remarkable series is Noein, which actually takes the "many-worlds" hypothesis of quantum mechanics seriously.

Other good choices:

Ergo Proxy
Planetes
Level E
Summer Wars
Space Brothers
Moyashimon

I'll also suggest Oh! Edo Rocket, a wacky and often hilarious science-fiction story set in 1843-44 Japan.

Finally you can give AKB0048 a try. It's a lot more interesting than it might first appear.

You have probably been told to watch Steins;Gate, so I will go ahead with another suggestion.I always recommend Kurozuka to sci-fi fans, because the unique combination of vampires and sci-fi is not your typical anime. The vibe the anime gives off - dark, depressing, hopelessness goes well with the premise. Fair warning though, it gets a tad bit confusing towards the end.

Why don't you give Chrome Shelled Regios, Wolf's Rain, and Last Exile a shot if you're interested.

Thanks but I have found that vampire mangas that are unlike hellsing (you know violent and badass ) can be pretty boring.

Although I have started reading chrome shelled Regios.

And lastly does anyone know any good fantasy like, Dark Air Berserk or naruto?
