The hell they are wasting time and resources on this?
Subasekai needs its long overdue sequel, not some anime.

I don't see the point of adapting a 13 years old game except if it's to promote a sequel.

Maybe they are also going to announce it on 4th July?

The anime industry doesn't have anything else to animate anyways. So who knows?
But I question both the ability to animate the story and how loyal the character designs will be.

First Kingdom Hearts gets a tv show and now TWEWY... what's next, The Bouncer getting a Netflix adaptation?

This is a very strange choice for an anime adaptation. Seriously, who was asking for this?

You know what, Bouncer as a Netflix production actuallysounds like a good idea.
At least far better then animating Subaseka.

Over on Reddit, people were getting all hyped about it... because Reddit.

Meanwhile, I'm prepared to be fully disappointed.

Huh, well, the character designs look okay enough at least.

That they're actually sticking so closely to the art and character style of the game is actually quite impressive, considering many other adaptations.

I'm surprised they managed to stick so close to the game's art style. Gotta give them props for that.

They are mixing cgi and 2d animation. Studios DOMERICA and SHIN-EI ANIMATION are doing it, former doing cgi and latter 2d.

I loved The World Ends With You, so I'm good with an anime.

The question remains, though: Why make an anime adaptation now? Why not earlier? Did the game just not sell that well back then?

I know it's Square-Enix and productions with that brand name practically print money most of the time, but the timing seems suspect to me. Are they making an anime adaptation right now to drum up support for a sequel to the game, given that it was re-released for Switch back in 2018? What's their objective here?

I wouldn't be surprised if there is some game continuation they will announce to follow alongside the premier of the anime.
