yeah.... I shouldn't.. But guess what... now you mentioned bones...
Can't we say that this Titan's bones are 10x tougher than the usual human bones? It's like slamming a samurai sword to a pure concrete cement... No matter how sharp ones blade is if the require forced is not enough to thrust it and can't be sustained by the human... he might hurt himself instead... |

Well we don't have actual data on how strong a titan bone is. You would assume that they must be very sturdy to sustain their weight but that's just an assumption.
Anyway the human limit on maintaining a solid grip on the blades is of course a good point. Even if they get momentum (which means the force is actually provided by the 3D gear), they still need to use their own force to keep a solid grasp on the hilts. But how much force is required again deeply depends on how sharp the blades are and how hard the titan flesh and bones are, which are variables that we don't know well.

Which is ironic considering those things were design to fight Titans even before they breached the walls, but in turn explains why the Scouting Legion keeps failing so miserably once they go out.

In all those years that the Scout Legion sent expeditions outside the walls nobody it seems got the bright idea to develop primitive flight technology. Whether hot air balloons or paragliding.
Or somebody did but probably got suppressed along with other innovative ideas. Spoiler:

I don't think the Recon corps engage Titans on the open plains anyway. In fact being Scouts they're meant to observe Titans and look for land rather than get into combat. If they do have to fight, the soldiers seem to lure them into forests or structures and battle them there (a'la ep1).

I can see he's holding a dummy rifle and the only one or two man rifle practicing hand to hand maneuvers. Perhaps this two rifle man knows hows to reloading and firing all range. Last edited by PzIVf3; 2013-04-29 at 19:56. |

A dummy probably wouldn't work. Humans know that the Titans somehow "sense" human presence and that's why they have those settlements at each gate to work as decoy.
The recon corps probably still haven't figured out how exactly Titans know where humans are. But it is likely not dependent on vision, else they could simply disguise themselves as other animals or use some kind of concealment.

Ugh, it's hard for me to imagine how hard it is for them to switch between remote control into twin swords the moment before they strike the Titans. And what makes me kinda confused is a certain scene in ep 4 when Eren could easily control his Maneuver Gear even without wielding the remote control (??)
