I tend to move around a lot before I manage to fall asleep, usually I end up on my right side but sometimes on my back.
Waking up, generally either: 1. I'm on my face, drooling, my top blanket is gone, my second blanket is shoved over against the wall, I'm wrapped up in the sheets like a toga, one of my pillows is missing, and my left arm and leg are dangling off the edge of the bed. (Not to mention my pajamas have gotten all tangled up, too, and sometimes are no longer being worn but are shoved under the sheets at the foot of the bed... 0.o) 2. I'm peacefully curled up on my right side with the blankets pulled under my chin. It seems pretty random which one will happen, but I think it probably has a lot to do with the temperature in the house, I keep moving around when I get too hot. |

Well I sleep on my right hand side with a pillow so one arm rests above it the other lays ontop of the pillow. I dunno why but I've been told all the females in our family have done that
As for sleeping on your chest I can't do it. If I do I tend to stop breathing soemtimes and I when I can breathe it just feels like hot air and that I'm going to sufficate.

I usually go to sleep on my side, but end up waking up face-down in a comfortable pillow and don't want to get up.
OR I end up on my back, sprawled across my bed, mouth wide open, drooling like Niagra Falls, and having back pain.

Wow this is a really random thread. Random, but fun.
So I usually get to sleep on my right hand side, left hand fisted in the sheets at my shoulders and the other buried under my pillows. Now I emphasised 'get' because I very rarely find myself in the same position in the morning. I'm sure if someone video-taped me of a night it would look like I was trying to breakdance in my sleep. I've been told that I am a very violent sleeper, and have occasionally received punches or kicks in the middle of the night for my poor sleeping etiquette. I also have a weird thing about having clothing around my neck of a night-time, so since 17 I've been unable to sleep in anything more substantial than a thin-strapped tank top of a night-time. (This is even true during winter too.) I think it's because so many times I've woken to find myself half strangled by an askew pyjama top. :: Puts on professional hat :: And I was reading what some people have been saying about sleeping posture. While it's generally true that sleeping on your back tends to put less stress on your back and neck, this usually isn't really a significant issue. You're very unlikely to do any damage to your spine by doing this, and I find it highly unlikely that you would develop a scoliosis (curve in the spine) by doing this. Or if you did find one it is more likely that you had it since birth. As long as you have a position that feels comfortable then it's usually fine for you, it's only when you have a problem with your spine that sleeping postures may need to be altered to limit additional stress. |

I used to sleep with my ass up in the air as a baby, and all sorts of weird things...
These days I can't really ever find a confortable position, it all feels really bad, thus, and due to my mind not winding down, I have real seep issues. |
