because they're afraid that their work as mercenaries will endanger those that they care about and may mentally scar them for the rest of their lives? They sound way past that point though.

Or they just find women too troublesome

No, I think they just don't like women in general. If you didn't know the context, you'd think they were either gynophobic, or had no interest in the opposite sex.

To everyone:

They have no interest in women because of the IS. Their very first encounter with the IS on the night of Thunder Crash's disbandment had left a severe negative impression on them.

So it kinda falls under "past traumatic experiences". If it comes off natural instead, it would require a wee bit more explanation.

I just can't believe anyone of her status would be extremely shallow. Pretty dangerous given the magnitude of responsibility she has, not to mention her family fortune at stake.

Not sure if "stirring up a hornet's nest" would be a suitable way to describe that scene.

As for the IS, Uchigane Niigata, I presume. Who else would have missiles aside from that and the Blue Tears?
