The ending was a bit rushed and too open ended for my tastes (I can only hope both Akira and Kondo will succeed and find each other again), but this still remains my favorite anime of the season. Beautifully animated and directed, with excellent leads and a simple but nicely told story. 9/10.

So it ends with both Akira and Kondou have helped the other gain the courage to return to their former passions, all while promising to never forget the other. It's a fitting albeit open and a bit rushed ending.

The studio really gave this anime it's A-game as shown by the stunning animation and some of the shots they made. One of my favorite anime of the season, if not my outright favorite.

To be honest I was rather disappointed by the manga ending so didn't feel too motivated to watch the end of the anime. But I figured I might as well batch watch them. While I was cringing a fair bit with the last anime episode and it did seem a bit rushed, it at least manages to end with a feel good factor despite being bitter-sweet.

Apart from that, amazingly good adaptation. If all adaptations were this good the world would be a much much better place.

Great and beautiful series with wonderful music and fluid animation and lots of shiny eyes and bubbles. I only wish it went on for longer.

a late news that I can post now after the final, the author closed her blog, many people guess is because of the responses she got from the end of the manga.

How bad could have it been? I didn't read the manga so I'm curious

Now that's a way to end a show. Truly sublime.

What a great series. Reading the synopsis (and a little bit of the manga) I really wasn't sure whether I'd pick this up but it turned out to be such a great experience. The writer really made an great choice in giving Akira and Kondo their own lives independent of each other. It gave them such great depth and allowed the story and its themes to transcend to higher places than if it focused purely on romance. And the director did such an amazing job in making it so immersive. Just an all round excellent effort by everyone involved in the making of this anime.
