Let's roll some heads.
Looking for more anime to watch.
Just finished Claymore (thank you netflix streaming) and now I'm back in the mood for more anime. I like my anime hyper-violent, and with as little comedy as possible. Anime like: Berserk Gantz Elfen Lied Claymore Hellsing Ultimate Shigurui Blood: The last vampire (NOT Blood+) I'm not too much into older anime. Fist of the north star was cool and all, but i'm not big on the picture quality of older anime. I watched trailers for Darker than black, and Speed Grapher, and they look pretty okay, I'm going to look into them. also I hate 2d/3d mix anime, so none of that please. like blassreiter, that looks retarded. anyway, any suggestions would be very much appreciated! |

Gungrave
Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ *a must watch* Black Lagoon If you want something 'similar' to Gantz, check out Ichi the Killer: Episode 0. However I didn't find it particularly great. I prefer the movie. |

It's a little slow in the beginning but you'll be itching for the next episode soon enough. And when it hits the fan, boy does it hit the fan.

Ga-Rei Zero - some slick fighting scenes here.
Kurozuka - somewhat brutal and a bit of a mind fuck. Mnemosyne - one of the better series that delt with immortality. Rurouni Kenshin OAVs - fond memories of this one. Kite - for the gun play Mezzo Forte (the hentai/OAV) version - really nicely animated gun fights. Sword of the Stranger - beautifully animated sword fights. |

Don't count the Kenshin OAVs out just because you saw the series and thought it was too goofy. They're completely different. I disliked the series for the same reason as you, but the first OAV is quite possibly my favorite anime because it's a complex tragedy with awesome fights. Here's a fight from very early in the OAV
If you want to try something philosophical, Texhnolyze is quite intelligent, and also very violent. The main character is somewhat of a psychopath. It's from the same team as Serial Experiments Lain though, so expect a mind screw. |

I've seen texhnolyze, and lain. I loved both, but i didn't really find texhnolyze very violent at all. I mean it was at parts, but up next to gantz, it had nothing. I feel kinda tricked because I've seen gantz and elfen lied, and not everything looks lame in comparison. Genocyber looks off the charts, but i hate that old anime style and couldn't watch much of it before i got sick of it. I started Darker than Black and Basilisk. Basilisk is good, just a little dumbed down from the books (which pisses me off) and Darker than black isn't HALF as badass as I thought it would be. I watched the first 5 episodes, and i remember MAYBE 2 good scenes. They need to make a violent ass Lone Wolf and Cub anime and that would make me happy. I need to get the Blade of the Immortal anime. I have the comics so i wanna see what they did with the anime. |
