Gotta say, I didn't expect this plot point to be brought up again after so long: the author really blindsided all of us with this. And while I didn't see the spy's identity coming, in hindsight it kinda makes sense:

her power is invisibility, so it's easy for her to spy on everyone else. And since she's one of the most underdeveloped members of the cast, it's easy for her to slip past the reader's attention.

Using her as a spy is brilliant as well. If her quirk is capable of being turned off then it also gives her 2 identities. Since we don’t know what she looks like, we might have seen her before and never realized it. She could be an older woman working in the administration. Then if she’s caught she just goes full time student and continues her job as spy and vice versa.

At UA, All Might tells the students that, according to preliminary reports, Star's quirk damaged ShigAFO's body in a manner similar to a poison. The class feels they have an advantage, since with the civilians having been evacuated, the remaining heroes can launch a counter strike. However, AM warns them that AFO is difficult to predict, and another invasion would be too risky at the moment, especially with so many powerful villains remaining. He ticks some of them off: Aside from AFO and Shigaraki, there's still Dabi, Toga, six Near High End Noumus, and the remaining members of the Paranormal Liberation Front. The heroes, on the other hand, have lost nearly half their numbers since the war....

So, All Might suggests the class take this time to train as much as they can. However, Bakugou cuts him off, telling him that they HAVE been training this whole time, with the Wild Wild Pussycats. AM just hasn't noticed since he spent so much time with Deku outside the school. Speaking of Deku, he asks his friends if they'll help him train OFA, but Bakugou cuts him off too, saying he wants to test out his new technique, called "Cluster", on him. The rest of the class discuss their training, as well. As he watches them, All Might thinks of how the class were mere "eggs" when they first arrived at the school, but have since hatched into wonderful birds who grace the sky. "Class 1A has become strong, AFO".

Back at AFO's lair, ShigAFO is writhing in agony. The "original" AFO tells the "other him" that his quirk factor was damaged by New Order, but it will heal in due time. ShigAFO simply voices his hatred for All Might, and all that is connected to him. The original says that though they failed to claim New Order, they at least got rid of one of the biggest walls blocking their way. He also notes that though their preparations are otherwise complete, he'll wait a little longer before launching his next master plan. Dabi is impatient, as he wants to punish Endeavor. AFO says he and Dabi are similar in many ways, but there's one stark difference between them: AFO prefers to plan out multiple routes to reach his end goal.... plans that were formed decades in advance. Although young Midoriya has returned to the near-impenetrable walls of UA, it's here that AFO notes another difference between him and Dabi: He has many friends. It is here that we cut to the reveal that Hagakure Tooru is the UA traitor.....!!!!!

The reason she rarely showed up as a suspect was because she's the most irrelevant student in class 1-A along with maybe Sato. Making an irrelevant character the traitor means the twist has no weight and the author is unwilling to take risks.

Yeah, Tooru being the traitor sort of lacks any real impact due to how insignificant she has been. It'll be even weirder if this series tries to redeem her give how she hasn't had real interaction with anyone.

Doesn't that make her the perfect spy? She was unnoticed by the audience and beneath notice to the rest as just the plucky invisible girl. She didn't need to make an impact until now and she's in the perfect position to do so because she's been with them for a year. You could even explain that's how she got her ability to bend light when her original power was just invisibility yet she could do a flash.

Granted, I'm also willing to accept the Author just pulled this out of thin air, but it synch's well enough that it could work if they don't do something like her turning good because of friendship. They may as well have had her not be the traitor at that point and made it a dropped plot point.

I laughed hard when I read that. The translator definitely knew what he was doing.

I wonder if Spinner completely slipping under All Might's radar will turn out to be important, given that he's on a mission for AFO now. Being completely irrelevant is something he has in common with Hagakure.

Anyway the traitor theory is real and she is invisible girl. That mean AFO must has learn Eri identity, i wonder if he will aim for her quirk as well.

Her quirk is too damn good to be ignored.

AFO is definitely looking for any quirks that benefits his campaign. Not to mention he can pass those quirks to those if he wants to strengthen his organization's rank.

Eri definitely will play a big role for this one, as her quirk can be targeted by AFO and she have get used to it soon.
