This give me Gunslinger Stratos visual vibes, on the other hand I'm going to watch it if only if I expected to see the sci-fi scenery to be as impressive as what the original game CMs is any indication.

For those who follow PSO2JP next episode update
You might already realize that it almost connect to the game next Episode which will update this late January
we will need to wait and see how it connect story wise

for those Anime-only viewer you might need someone to explain what is going on in next few chapter unless they can self-explain

the first episode is basically Intro to PSO2 as a game
it also look a bit low budget during the action scene and a bit confusing for those who don't know PSO2

I'm a player and it was definitely fun to watch it while reading JP comments. Here are some:
Durng the first scene, people praised the BGM "it's always nice hearing Tower Defense's bgm". When the big ass darker (called Vibrace) showed up people went "Quick, confuse it! Load your WB! Can someone enter the AIS?"

There were also some shots at it that went like "If you have money to make an anime then use that money to give us content".

Other funny comments: "I'm gonna laugh my ass off if her business with him is to make him play the game" and when the emergency quest popped up people went "hey, at least grind/affix your equip before you go". People also smirked a bit when Itsuki started to use Gunslash as his weapon, heh.

Anyway... I'll probably be able to answer most questions when people become confused.

Edit:
The ending features PSO2's mascot character called a "Rappy". The ones you see dancing are players in Rappy costumes. The song is based on this ingame concert which happened numerous times throughout the year.

I'm a hardcore PSO2 story follower myself so I can help with the story too ><
so the background story from Ark side ins't a problems

thankfully it wasn't mining base itsuki jumped into, but the city ruins grind which has Dark Ragne as the boss if you so choose to fight it.

Spoiler for Episode 1:

I found it surprisingly fun and I found most of everything to be understandable so far. Speaking of the theme, it kind of remind me of Black Rock Shooter but with focus on online games so that's a plus. The animation is also unexpectedly good for a low budget series, even the CGI. I have some hope to look forward continuing.
