Yes, there's a region lock, and yes, there's a patch for it.

Pre order on the way as well.

Key made a little update on their blog, and... the size of the script is gigantic

Also, they are just teasing the hell of us with that nice title screen.

That title screen basicly rubs it into our face: LOOK AT THAT SECRET HEROINE!

I can tell from the pixels and having played quite a few secret routes in the past.

Whoa. Is that seriously the entire script, in printed form?

Yes, that's what they claim, and the third picture shows what's printed on a sheet: definitely monologue and dialogue lines.
They also confirmed the script is longer than Little Busters, although they didn't mention a comparison with other Key game (so no idea if it is longer than clannad or not).

Apparently Little Busters Ecstasy was longer than Clannad or maybe it wasby 4,000 lines I read So it may be longest to date?

I really might consider buying it XD perhaps I will have to check my system to see if it is up to it. Or if some updates may be in order. (drools at the merchandise ami ami has out, is same image but it is something XD)

Don't wait for the translation then. Use AGTH then run it through a machine translator, or if you feel like learning/practicing Japanese (which I highly recommend), it'll be easier to put unknown words into a dictionary.

@Random32
Thank you for your advice, but I hate machine translations.

I pre-ordered mine through Amazon.co.jp and used Japan Auction Agency as the proxy shipping agent.

I'd say Amiami. I've bought games from Amiami before, and they're really cheap compared to other online stores (i.e. they don't rip you off like other stores do).
