School Rumble Questions and Answers

Hi, another nub to school rumble...have watched all the eps out so far and was wondering what manga chapter i should start reading to continue on with the story. Also, are there certain places throughout the chapters that the bonuses would approximately fit in? (If so, does anyone know of any lists that say where they go?). Any help is appreciated, thanx in advance (and sorry if this has already been asked).

You'll probably want to start at around Ch.165 or so. The anime has covered all of the b chapters up until b36 or so.

b37 should appear around Ch.168/169, b39 should appear around Ch.173/174, b40 is relevant at around ch.178-179, b41 is at around Ch.185 or so, and b43 is at ch.193 or so.

b38 is a standalone chapter that can be read at any point in time, but it's probably somewhere in the 170 range, and I can't remember anything about b42. The numbering of these chapters changes between the weekly releases and the volume releases, so b37 and b38 may be different if you're using the volume numbering system.

From a volume standpoint, b37 and b38 appear at the end of Volume 14, but we don't know the official ordering for anything past that point.

i ben wondering , does the series ever tell us about what happen to tsukamoto's family. i havent read the manga so iono if its explained there. i know they mention that they only have each other (tenma and yakumo), im just curious on eps 26 when they have flashback,
theres only tenma and yakumo , do they live by themself from that small T_T tats reli sad T_T

question about SR Nigakki OST... is it just me or is this OST lacking the sad piano track that played in (nigakki) episode 19 when Harima finds tenma crying?

i was really looking forward to that track too...

It'll probably be released in character CDs coming soon. Similar thing happened with tracks from the first season which could only be found in character drama CDs.

It would be sad if School Rumble is slated to end soon Oh well I hope they at least give us the names of the unnamed characters in 2-C

Ahhh.

Well at best we know one thing about the parents in the Tsukamoto family. Harima (when specifically looked at from behind while working in that guest? room Tsukamoto has) looks like their father.

Thats it. Zero mention of their mother basically.

i sometimes wonder what happened to ANY of the SR character's parents!

i don't think i've seen anyone except eri's mother so far. oh well, it makes it easier to have such a fun show since these kids can do all these co-ed overnight things without the parent complications

well back in ep 17 or 18 on season 2, they put some air time of mikoto's parents. also earlier in the series, they kinda show asou' parents and their chinese restaurant.

way back in season 1 (or maybe the OVA), they put air time for lala's dad.

That's all I can think off right out of my head. i think it would be cool if ur parent just give u a house where u live together with ur sibling without worry about the mortgage. if i was tenma, i would have house party every weekend.....weeeee

has anyone else noticed that the SR narrator mostly/only narrates when it involves harima x tenma? [e.g. 1st term ep. 25 when tenma falls asleep on harima, 2nd term on tenma's b-day party, 2nd term ep.19 (about how "that isn't the case for tsukamoto tenma and harima kenji!")... ]

i don't know if this is the same way in the manga, but could it maybe be showing that the mangaka/whoever-produces-the-anime-version are leaning towards harima and tenma getting together?

just a thought.

mmm Pretty sure there is no direct narration "per say" in the manga... But the writings along the sides of the pages... tend to serve this function. More or less adding the puns and such and such to the gags on the page... Or as commentary/ or even references to previous occurences of something.
For example:

(Context: Harima busts Eri's umbrella and though Harima offers his own, she insists they just share it)
Eri (Bottom panel): Hey Hige, its cold...
Harima (Not pictured): The snow isn't my fault.
The border comment (and the always present ending comment as well): Its cold, but its not cold...

Heh! That's pretty funny yet it has some sort of feeling to warmness, due to the fact Eri and Harima are under one umbrella.

We have a narrator for the prehistoric rumble in the OVA, as well.

I think it just depends on the needs of the situation. In scenes like the Omiai arc of 16-18, we hear both Harima's thoughts and Eri's thoughts, so a narrator would only disturb the intensity of the scene. Tenma is a great character, but it's hard to take her seriously even when she's genuinely moved - there's just a tendency there (on my part, at least) to always look for the gag/punchline. The narrator, in that case, helps the scene to become dramatic, as it was originally intended to be - at least for me.

From what I've seen, the animators haven't shown much favoritism at this point. The Oudou scenes in 19 were enhanced and expanded on, but so were the True Oudou scenes in 22, the Flag scenes in 4, 16, 17, 18, and 22, and the Onigiri scenes in 23, 25, and 26 this season.

You might be thrown off slightly by the fact that the last batch of episodes this season focused more on Onigiri/Oudou - but at the same time, they were anime original material thrown in to push back a big story arc. If and when we get a third season, I'd expect that you'd probably change your opinion somewhere in the next 8-10 episodes or so.

I'd agree that those commentaries do serve as KJ's voice, in a way. Yakushamaru's dialogues with the female leads of the series in Ch.184-185 seem to serve a similar function, as well.

You mean "has a sense of duty towards animals." Regardless, Harima's remarks, his indecision, and his facial expressions show that Eri has achieved something fairly remarkable - she's finally awoken his dere side. That's a landmark achievement in itself.

I love that line: "It's cold, but it's isn't cold..." I feel so warm, just thinking about it.

Thanks...Deathkillz....i've been watching every week since School Rumble....followed season 2 aswell every week...so i really hope season 3 comes aswell.

(Harima should drop his love for Tenma, he can get any girl he wants (except Tenma)...Eri, Yakumo and probably the rest)

Well if the manga said Harima love animals HE does love them. The manga never mentioned he loves Eri nor Yakumo, but it mentioned he LOVES TENMA-CHAAANNN~~!!!
