Can anyone think of a good anime with angels in? So far I thought of:
Haibane Renmei
Ah my Goddess (pagan-style)
DNAngel
...and that's it.

Angelic Layer?? I haven't watched it but i know it's lisensed. i just know the name, nothing about the anime.

ANGEL SANCTUARY!!! to bad there are only three ovas, but the manga is 20 volumes!

If you think about angels as "ethereal spirit-thingies with supernatural powers" Angelic Layer doesn't count into it.
The "angels"/tenshi in this series are little robot-dolls who fight against each other, controlled by their creators via headset. And since a creator is called a "deus" (god) I think thats why the dolls are named angels. ^-^

Still, the series is waaay funny! Good old CLAMP work.

angelic layer is about a game with little bots in it,
want angels try the happy world ovas, it's only 3 episodes, but verry funny

How about

Happy World (that has a 'real' or traditional angel in it)
Chrno Crusade (angels vs demons)
Bottle Fairy (well, the Fairies are almost angels

)
Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar (another Fairies = Angels show

)
Matantei Loki Ragnarok (ala Nordic 'angels')

There are a larger number of anime series which contain certain 'angel' elements, such as Saikano for example, as well as those shows which imply they have angels, such as Tenshi na Konamaiki or Tenbatsu Angel Rabbie

Maybe the nearly 7 minute music video by Miyazaki On Your Mark. The video tells a short story about two men who find an angel-like winged girl.

I don't think this is included in the Disney Ghibli licensing deal, but I could be wrong.

There is no angel shown in Oshii's Angel's Egg, although...

in Evanglion they sprout wings.

3x3 eyes...? well... ... not really.

saint seiya maybe... thats about it.

Escaflowne had some angelness I think. Not that much though. Just a few scenes, angels aren't the main theme.
