I knew Gauche come to the rescue, though the question was when . Very good chapter, especially with those very touching last few pages. This series is easily one of the best at the moment for such great scenes.

No plot movement, though i don't care when we get such a sweet chapter. <3

Highlight had to be the Jiggy Pepper/Zazie team up. Some seriously nice shots here during the double attack, i must say.

Though the main meat of the story has to be the scenes Lag was seeing because Gauche used his left eye to fire a heart bullet. For starters, it's strange that it took so long for Lag to see the scenes (though i guess the fact that he was knocked out cold plays a part in that). Hoping we find out the reason behind Lag's tears in the next chapter, which should be a big backstory on how Gauche changed.

& Roda has been stalking the pair for quite a few chapters now . I honestly thought she would have done something by now.

Pretty full chapter all around, nice to see the team up between Zazie, Jiggy, Aria, and Mock to take down the flying Gaichuu. Sure it didn't work but the bug only has two wings now so that should really help out (plus, what the heck was up with Mock there ). And then Lag confirms what some of us were thinking, "Gauche" really still is Noir, just with the memories that Lag knew in addition (and I guess that confirms that all his memories prior to being in Reverse are gone?). I do wonder why Noir went after Lag to save him then, just playing with the act, genuine kindness or does Reverse also have a use for Lag?

I'm starting to think this, though i could be wrong. There's much more to Lag i'm sure, and this could be the big drop in the story when we find out what.

I'm still holding onto the "Lag is the sun" theory, although I really hope this is more of Noir actually being nice. I was thinking about this as I was watching the anime actually, but the government really does come off looking evil in this series doesn't it? If Reverse wasn't so extreme I can see them being fairly sympathetic, if the story goes on for another few years I could see them eventually taking down the government which would be kinda cool.

Yeah that would be seriously awesome, especially in terms of how good it'll look.

Do wonder though how long left this series will last. There's plenty of life left still in it, though i just worry about the fantastic anime adaptation, and how it could suffer because of it.

Yeah, on the one hand, we are getting a lot of answers here and it does seems like a lot of stuff about Reverse is starting to come together but, at the same time, there's still a ton of back story we don't know (and I really hope it doesn't hurt the anime, gah, I wish that each season was 13 episodes instead and spaced over a few years so it all gets adapted!). My best bet is that Lag is going to end up in the capital soon-ish and that should explain a lot. Who knows, maybe he'll even met his mother have her explain everything.

Words can't even describe how good that would be, though if there's one thing this show doesn't do, and that's make things easy. The mysteries have been multiplying since the first chapter, and we've only had a few answers so far (though they were big ones).

Though who knows. There's plenty of life left in the story, so it could easily last a few more years. One of the beauties of being monthly is this wonderful pacing (which has truly adapted well), so i'll easily be pleased with it being this way for a good while. It just sucks how slow Viz are being with their release.

So, as just about everyone expected, "Gauche" is actually still Noir but the reveal was kinda touching actually (although it sounds like he'll never get his "Gauche memories" back). He seems a little kinder after the letter bullet and when Roda points it out he says that he respects the kids for all that they've accomplished, d'aw. So I'm now expecting some sort of Reverse and Bee team up in the very end to take down the government, especially since the manga made it really clear at this point that there is something wrong in the world that needs to be fixed, plus it would mean getting the characters to the capital and that's where all the answers are now.
Also, this chapter seems to confirm that Roda is partially the original Roda (the way she was looking at Noir and having it overlaid with memories of Gauche) which was also pretty sweet, hope she makes it through the series.

Final note, those 4-koma comics at the end were hilarious, yes/yes?

I have been watching Tegami Bachi and have a questions about what the word "heart" really means in Japanese. Can anyone tell me the Japanese word that this series uses which is translated in English to mean "heart"? And possibly, more information about what the word is supposed to really mean?

I'm asking to better understand what is meant...because for me, it just doesn't make much sense that one could shoot one's 'heart' through a gun or spirit amber, or see the 'heart' in a letter.

See "Heart" as Feelings, Emotions, maybe a Soul if you will.

This is what I believe, is what the "Heart" is in Tegami Bachi.

Which is why, if you use them all up, you end up like an eaten apple, a shell of your former self.

Yep, going a totally different direction than the anime now. Garrad and Valentine seem to be good guys here (or at least not part of reverse since they just deployed almost all the letter bees to kill the Cabernet)and Lag is off with another younger bee to be the last line of defense before it crosses over into Akatsuki. And Lloyd has managed to meet up with Lawrence and it seems like he wants to use Reverse, if not join up with them outright, to accomplish something, taking over the country perhaps?

I don't think Lloyd wants to join Reverse. Just using them for his own plan, though i have seriously no idea what that plan is. I do know that he was a total badarse in this chapter.

It'll be interesting to see what this new cute little Bee, Lily will do. It'll obviously be Lag who will take on the Cabernet (if we're lucky it'll be in the next chapter), and i'm looking forward to that. Totally loved Niche's doing the height chart.

& i stopped watching the anime. Not really pleased with it doing it's own thing, even though i know there was no option left. I'm fine just having seen the manga material animated.

Hell, I want to know how the Cabernet is still flying, it's only got one wing left! Betting it does like the manga and then starts running around/under the ground after the last wing comes off just to cause further trouble. And yes, Niche was adorable with that height chart, she and Lag really are the smallest people there aren't they?

I have seen the raw for chapter 50 somewhere, Tegami Bachi was on break last month but should return in next issue (out July 4th) I think it will be chapter 52 but I may have my maths wrong

I've seen Chinese raws for up to around chapter 49/50 so as far as I know the series is still coming out in Japan, the scanlators must have just abandoned the project. Ugh, and I went ahead and looked at the raws too since I thought the translations would come out soon, really want to talk about what happened in them. >.<

Chapter 49 was pretty solid. Connor's words to Lag were very heartwarming. Lovely scene.
