It has incredible production and it's on Crunchyroll: http://www.crunchyroll.com/fate-zero Be warned that the first episode is kind of boring and also that this is a gUrobuchi anime, a big turn off for some. EDIT And actually this anime is not very much like Soul Eater at all but it's got the highest production values of a new action anime I can think of. Probably TTGL is more like Soul Eater if you haven't seen that already.

There is new anime airing now that has slightly different take on the series. In few weeks it will start Greed Island arc and then it will cover a new material that older series didn't.

To add to my post let's see... you basically want action with the mix of sad and fun stuff right?
To sum it up... mostly shounen. From ongoing series I would 100% highlight Magi. It got my interest far more than I expected. Despite having a cute kind of art, some of the themes are dark and people die there. You might be already watching it but Fairy Tail would be a good choice as well. Accel World is not a bad show, it finished airing few weeks ago. Ao no Exorcist would fit quiet well. Not a shounen but Baccano! are great action series with blood and humor. From older ones, how about Berserk? There are new movies (re-makes) released but haven't seen them yet so duno how good the are. The show is meant a more mature audience. Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero series are nice, Zero is 10 times better though. I'll list more later.
