This time, only Ishigami notable ranker on student council, and he's ranked #8.
Would be more difficult to discipline the student compare to team of achiever or duet of #1 and #2.

I think he wanted to give a vibe of "them too" but it just doesn't work. They're Yuu and Miko, not Miyuki and Kaguya. Let them be their own characters, and they could in my opinion run a story of their own plenty well, but forcing them to become those two is just wrong. You do not end a story with side characters who were their own people suddenly doing exactly the same things that the MCs did despite it being completely out of character for them. Even their starting points are far different, different enough that it's laughable to think they'd act the same way. At the start, Miyuki and Kaguya didn't even really know each other that well. They were in the process of getting closer and moving from crush to true love while actually learning about one another's personality and situation. Yuu and Miko have been there at each other's side since middle school, and they've already had an almost kiss scene. Not only are you trying to turn them into different characters, you're also effectively trying to push them from youth to infancy. Yeah, as much as I liked and defended this pair, the author really pulled a dumb move at the end. Would've been far better to just leave it with Hayasaka's dream future where they still haven't managed to establish anything but still care for each other and continue that whole "maybe someday".

Fujiwara's final chapter is quite fun and great.

Spoiler for Chapter 279:

She got a confession and proposal from a famous pianist, Hourai Tamaki. (Jeweled Branch of Hourai)

Hyping up the final 3 chapters are the last explanation, narration section about the "feeling of love".

She breaks down the news to Kaguya that maybe it's time to be serious about love because he is not like the others. They can talk nicely, he has more wealth than the Fujiwara family and he is even good looking. He is a keeper. He lives in Vienna and wants Fujiwara to move in with him there. Fujiwara is about to answer him back with a text message.

But before that, Fujiwara asks Kaguya what should she do, because her word is important. But in reality, she is roping her into saying that she likes Fujiwara the most and wishes that Fujiwara likes her the most as well. It was practically payback for the time Kaguya started dating Miyuki. Text message deleted.

Fujiwara wants a more developed love story, not starting with a sudden, huge step. Also, she wishes to marry a sumo wrestler. Fujiwara Chika always making others smile and she is everyone's heroine. Thus ends her story.

People complain about her lack of development, but at least Fujiwara was the only character who remained untainted. True to herself until the end.

I would lie if I said I liked this chapter, there were no stakes to begin with so even if she decided to TRY going out with someone it would leave out a lot of development so of course Aka went for the just for the good old "just a prank bro" ending (yeah, I gave up on having expectations on this author so if you got this for this manga better get ready for the same treatment for OnK.)

I'm pretty mad that the characters started heavily shitting on her or Aka started heavily shitting on her after Kaguya and Miyuki officially started going out, but it's true that she came out the least ruined overall among them.

No swimming training and fear of bugs training with Miyuki ever.

We're going from "I'm studying hard to make everyone proud, especially my senpai(s) who believe in me" to "fighting yakuza who big brain enough to fund high school student who smart enough to wasted it on helicopter" to "Playing APEX and Minecraft likely a sign you have healthy EQ compare to average teenager". Quite a trip for a rom-com manga IMO;

Can't say I disagree with opinion that Fujiwara dodge the bullet by being butt-monkey. Romcom with sumo wrestler as male MC sounds promising for spin-off.

To think three weeks from now Kanojo Okarishimasu will stand as the only popular Japan rom-com known to mass ...

The penultimate chapter is about Miyuki talking to Mikado.

Long story short, Miyuki wants to surprise Kaguya by appearing after her graduation, but Mikado says he should just spend time with her. Topic changes to them competing about exam scores and the meaning of genius according to Miyuki and why would Kaguya want to be an ordinary person and chasing something with photography in which she has no talent? Lots of annoying talk and preaching just for Miyuki being petty and competitive against Mikado in a childish way, rubbing salt in his wounds. But unbeknownst to Miyuki, Kaguya is aware he is here, so she probably sets something up for him.

Yeah, sole light for me watching all those others become tainted more and more the closer the ending drew.

Same, never liked the full on shit throw show on Fujiwara, it felt wrong considering they are supposed to be friends and know very well how Fujiwara is like. Plus we never got a chapter with only Kaguya and Fujiwara spending time together, it was always someone else with them when they were together.

Also no Ballroom Dancing arc ever which I really wanted to see, except if they force-press it into the latest chapter which I doubt they will.. The "Mama Fujiwara/training Prez to be a decent human being in everything else but studying" were my fav chapters, super funny watching the element of chaos getting a trauma and the number 1 student not even being able to blow up a balloon. xD

It's because they're friends that they can throw shit at each other and not be bothered because they know it's not that serious.

For some reason, Volume 9 contains 11 chapters instead of 10, when every other volume retains the 10 chapters per volume count. Thus, every volume from there on ends with a chapter number where the last digit is 1 instead of 0.

To ensure Kaguya photograph chapter being last chapter of Vol. 10.
If they going with 10 chapters per book, Kaguya photograph chapter would awkwardly goes to beginning of Vol. 11.

Oh, that makes sense. Then again it's poor planning, cause there is an unnecessary chapter before the photograph 2-parter and no one bet an eye or warned Aka that it would look stupid in the volume version, put one of the chapters at a later point.

The final chapter is out, translated. Some of my overall thoughts later.

I liked the ending and the chapter before it. It felt good. Miyuki and Kaguya's story will go on in another direction but this chapter of their lives has ended.

Plus, we already know they get married in Oshi no Ko, so...
