Not opening the spoiler boxes, but I think I accidentally ran into the "big one" that people are talking about after clicking that "source" link a few posts back ~~ Closed it immediately afterwards, but eh.
Spoiler:

Very interesting development from Kadokawa...
They chose to skip the meat of Inbou and head to Henshuuchou ★ Itchokusen! following Asahina Mikuru no Yuutsu in the manga version. (confirmed on official website). I wonder why that's chosen. They've followed the chronological timeline fairly well with the exception of Asahina Mikuru no Bouken Episode 00 and Someday in the Rain having been skipped. Why would they jump a month ahead? I assume we'll find out after this story finishes.

Edit: Also forgot to mention that this is the last week for the panorama covers to be sold in Japan. If you're wanting them, better order them now before they get expensive on Yahoo Japan Auctions. 2nd Edit: Table of contents (from Akibablog) has this to say about the feature: Suzumiya Haruhi no Kyougaku. After a period of 3 years, the long awaited latest addition to the series begins in "The Sneaker"! 70 pages in one publication! Cooperate with that memorable protagonist. Be stunned by the "surprising" developments. (yes the pun is that they used the same kanji as in the title)

I'm rather thoroughly surprised that people are being so quick to cry foul of the major development that everyone is talking about. There's absolutely no proof that this isn't what Tanigawa had planned the entire time.
As has been said, all we have is one image, and some roughly translated speculation. So why are people crying "He's pandering to the base!"? This also leads me to ask: Spoiler for Current Discussion:

Not really. Fan arts says everything. Though, I agree that she's not popular as Nagato or Haruhi but she's far more popular than Tsuruya. Movie boost her popularity quite a bit. Well, just take a look of fan arts/wallpaper site

Fair enough, it still rubs me the wrong way that people are saying that this is some otaku placating cash grab though. I mean, I could see if it happened every single novel, and people would justifiably be sick of it, but it doesn't, and the last time this happened it was well executed, so I see no reason to believe it won't be well executed this time as well, if events do shape up to be what everyone is expecting of them.

This development aside (which I'm personally quite pleased over, as it might answer some questions I've had for quite some time) I can't also help but wonder if this, as some people have speculated, will be the end of the story, or merely the conclusion to novel 9, with more novels eventually on their way.
If it is truly the end, then man, there's going to be a lot of stuff to cover in the narrative, unless it ends in a most unexpected way.

I do hope it isn't the last one, since I love this series, but if it took him over 3 years to write this, I'm fairly certain it's the last one. |

Here's what's been posted on 2ch. No picture of the magazine was posted by this person, so it's unconfirmed. Nobody's denied any of it so far in the past day, so there may be some nuggets of truth in there.
Spoiler:
If any of this is proven wrong, I am sorry for posting false rumors again.
