Christ. This isn't even an VRMMORPG and it looks better than it has a right to be.

Are they? Or have they just not learned how to cut corners yet?

They have more manpower and not high taxes like having your studio on Tokyo is.

That few Chinese animation series I saw looked less than average by anime standards, so it's quite surprising to see this level of animation here.

No kidding. I wonder how much they're going to adapt. There are hundreds, probably over a thousand, chapters.

The action scenes in this are on par with ufotable minus the somewhat excessive lighting effects.

On average, i'd say they are still below japanese studios but they are growing way faster than japanese studios. I wouldn't be surprised if they surpassed them in technical skill quite soon.

Wow, the animation looks stunning. Seems like something from Ufotable.

Ive seen a couple Chinese "anime" and never liked how it looked. It looked high quality but at the same time had weird character animation and pretty shitty storyboarding. But this looks pretty good. In fact great.

Chinese anime still have problems in making stories due to cultural limitations and government intervention. But give them enough motivation and they could be great. After all, a lot of studios outsource to Chinese firms for in-between animation.

^ Dead living things like skeletons cannot be depicted, among other things.

As for government intervention: China blacklisted more than 30 series.

The Chinese Ministry of Culture blacklisted those anime and manga series that "include scenes of violence, pornography, terrorism and crimes against public morality".

I think TKA would be safe. Only fictional violence, which would not be that different compared to your usual wuxia TV series; definitely no scene of pornography or fanservice (well, at least until the latest translated chapter of WN).

They're the ones making it so they probably got it covered.

It's funny. During my search for more reviews on Re:Zero, I stumbled across a gem of a reviewer named Gigguk. Anime aside, his accent his hilarious and he fan translation site made the post announcing the adaptation only 4 days after he made this video about the 5 concepts he speculates have the potential for anime.

Episode animation was great though it felt like the door just disappeared when Su Mucheng barged in. xD I forgot how much of an angering move the way that whole story driving scenario happened.

Also dang, that server opening countdown I can't remember when was the last time an MMO brought that much hype in a net cafe.

But yeah Ye Qiu's feelings was transmitted pretty well, I do hope to see more of the in-game visualizations next episode.
