Kazekoshi almost got eliminated. I sould say it's cruelty against animals to let a catgirl suffer like this, but i like Koromo's way of play. And Kana is cute when she's crying.
Saki helped her to remain in the game letting her a ron (it was necessary for Saki, below zero point for Kazekoshi would be the end of the game and easy win for Ryoumonbuchi), but it was costly since this way Saki fallen down in score way behind Koromo.
At the end of chapter 47, the scoreboard looks like this:
Koromo: 163900
Yumi: 101400
Saki: 87800
Kana: 46900

Basically, its a flashback chapter, when Nodoka and Yuki are still in middle school. I believe they are graduating once spring is over. Nodoka has a future aspiration form in her hands, and she has no idea what to write. Yuki mentions that if Nodoka wins the championship in an online mahjong tournament, a lot of high schools might take her in. Yuki then quips, saying that if she is still pondering over her future aspiration, Yuki will take her as her bride . She'll put Nodoka in the kitchen and taco making is a must

Nodoaka then says that might not be a bad idea...to which Yuki says she feels embarassed and to forget about it. To which Nodoka mentions about iPS (some law perhaps?) where same sex couples can have children. I'll leave that to sink in for a while...but anyhow Yuki goes all taco-minded and wants to have taco.

After Yuki has her fill of taco, she declares that she is going to Kiyosumi High school. Just because their cafeteria serves taco . Yuki then mentions that in high school you will meet new friends. As it is a new environment, something wonderful might happen!

Saki in the foreground is probably holding the application form to apply to Kiyosumi as well.

I guess this is to show how strong Saki's flow/luck is when she's the dealer...

Reading the Japanese raw chapter, it looked to me like it went something like this:

I'm pretty sure what she's referring to are "induced pluripotent stem" (iPS) cells, which are stem cells that can apparently be used to create sperm and eggs (see this link for reference).

No, I don't think you are. However...

...I don't think Yuki should be taken seriously. It looks to me like all she was doing was joking around and trying to get a reaction out of Nodoka - she was surprised when Nodoka actually responded seriously.

For Nodoka's part, I think the major revelation of the special chapter is the confirmation that she's OK with the idea of being in a same-sex relationship - even to the point of bringing up the available options for having children. She isn't in love with Yuki, although she would probably have agreed if Yuki asked her out.

Nodoka / Saki definitely looks like the couple to watch, but I don't see either one of them taking the initiative at the moment. I think we've got quite a bit of mahjong still to come before we get into any romantic plotlines.

For people who are reading the manga and understand the Japanese, I sort of get the hands that are going on but I'm completely lost as to what part of the south round they're on and who's east now after ch. 50. Any help, please?

In chapter 50, Saki was East and they played the first repeated game in the third South round.

So... Koromo wins on a 30 fu, 3 fan hand for a 1000 / 2000. Isn't the point difference now around 50,100 points?

Even with a yakuman now, as the north seat, Saki can only get 8000 / 16000 for a total of 32,000 points. How is this going to work? Wouldn't she need Tsuruga to take some of Ryuumonbuchi's points to force a bonus East 4 round with the point difference under 40k? i.e. Tsuruga would need to win a 10k point hand?

Or am I thinking about this wrong?

Heck, they could even make it so that they need a West round tiebreak in order for Kana to be East and give her her last chance to shine as well. Poor girl, not even a direct hit double yakuman on Koromo can save her now besides a west round tiebreaker

Oh. You're probably right. I only counted haitei, sanshoku, and pinfu... for some reason, my riichi cheat sheet says tanyao needs to be concealed (which seems to be wrong).
