Omni has screencaps up but no summary yet. For once I have little idea what's actually going on from just the screencaps so could someone who's seen the new ep give a rundown on what happened?

Well that was unexpected, Niwe's entrance. I guess now that we've gotten a look at Hakuoro's past, we're now going to start getting hints at the monster he really is.

Is it me, or does the art in the episode 14 preview look just .... REALLY BAD?
If it keeps up that way, it'll have to be nominated for a six-finger award -_-;

Hrm... I guess they resolved the Touka thing, but I feel that Touka's character suffered somewhat as a result. Instead of getting the impression of a naive hero blinded by justice, the viewer gets that Touka is a seriously mature individual.

In the game, I thought the confrontation with Orikakan was a lot more poignant. When Hakuoro thinks of the flames(with no physical manifestation), Eruruw calls him back to himself and asks Orikakan to give her back her friends who had perished in Yamayura. Orikakan was also about to spill the beans on who ended up charming him into thinking that Hakuoro was Rakushain right when a poinsoned arrow struck him (with no Niwe). And also, isn't Mr. Male Feathers showing up a bit too early? <_<

Shrug, they've already completely shafted the timeline of the anime in comparison to the game. What's a few more changes going to do it?

Touka is still getting off easy on the character side, Kuuya and to a lesser extent Genjimaru and Sakuya are the ones getting truly shafted by this. Not that I agree with the changes to Touka at all as she was my favourite character in the game. I pretty much gave up on the show when it failed to manifest 某としたことがっ. Call me a weirdo if you will, but I was really looking forward to her saying that. Not having watched the episode, I'm not sure how they resolved the Touka thing, but I can already see that it can't have been as good as Touka's "lavatory duty" scene in the throne room.

I just looked at some of the screenshots for episode 13, looks really good in some parts, gaah i need to see now, but i've still gotta wait for episode 12.

I briefly watched ep 13 raw and while the plot has diverged, the anime still seems to look to be enjoyable.

Or rather than diverged, more like shuffled around. It looks like they're trying to wrap up the villains completely before moving on to the next, hence Niueh's re-appearance.

We may get plenty of Kuuya, for example, but her intro might get shuffled towards parts of the story where she's more present.

In the original story I was surprised that Niwe didn't attack when irresponsible captain hakuoro was on some covert ops vacation.

Tuskuru hand only what... Oboro, Benawi, Kurou and the Archers to defend the nation?

13 is ok, the cg scenes are well executed, just... sth that Niue said bothers me

I think the genjutsu was put on Orikakan rather than Hakuoro. He was led to believe that it was Hakuoro who was responsible for the death of his sister. I guess Niwe wants to see Hakuoro completely lost in his fury or something.

Nah, I liked the preview :X It looked cool to me.

Niwe's evil laugh is HILARIOUS. KYAKAKAKAKAKAKA~! XD

Oh, Hakouro seems so emo lately. That little scene with Eruruu, Aruruu, and Mukuru in the field was cute though x3

But yeah, Niwe's appearence was like, "WTF? Doesn't he come a bit later..?" Looks like they might rush it like most anime D:

Why didn't orikakan just get help from the entire touka's village since each of them is blessed in such a good fighting abilities??

He can easily win over any great armies.

I can't get the game in my local store here...any ways for me to get my hands on it?

Um... and he would do that... how? From what I understand, the Evenkuruga are sent out from their village to wander and help fight for justice, and Touka just happened to wander into Orikakan's kingdom.

So you meant that those Evenkuruga aren't own by any Kingdom and are independent on thier own??

So does this mean Hakuoro kingdom just expanded? Or did he just wipe out their army, ruler, and just left it in shambles?

The storyline is a little confusing in this episode. So Orikakan just believed that Hakuoro is the villain, but in reality, he is not? Is that black flame around Hakuoro really from Hakuoro, or was it an illusion?

I have to love the relationship progression between Hakuoro and Eruruu, although "mother"??!?! It must have broke her heart. A nice comeback by her, though. Aruruu just gets cuter and cuter each episode.

Hakuoro was all like "Yes" and Eruruu was all like "No"... =/ That was an interesting part. She had her chance.

But he did get a surprise huggle, so alles klar. ^_^ Happy Aruruu so cute.... And when neither Hakuoro nor Eruruu could be found the next morning... ^o^

The way Hakuoro effortlessly disarmed the brother-in-law was awesome. Hakuoro's coolness has been reaffirmed.

And that fire... an illusion? What's the point if the only guy who's going to see it gets killed a few seconds later? It's not like Hakuoro emo'ing about who/what he is is anything new. And if it is, too bad, because a flaming Hakuoro would raise the badassness bar that much higher. Good ep. I was wondering when that Evil Emperor would show up again. I don't get the whole point of that guy's plot, though. It's not like he really cares that much the brother-in-law. His home village, yes, the rest... not so much, though I guess hinting at a dark past may have done the trick. Also, lousy evil laughter, but his cool companion makes up for that. Reality is interesting, huh?

Maybe it's just you, or maybe it's me, but I thought the animation in the preview looked great (well, relative to what we've been shown lately). It looked pretty slick to me. Character design appeared abit deformed, but I suppose that's to enhance the action scene's intensity?

Anyway, demonic Rak Shine seems to be an interesting twist (well, at least for those who haven't played the game). It'd be pretty cool if he ends up destroying his new village, too. Evil rules...but evil, maniacal laughter does not. I wish that old coot would get his esophagus ripped out.

Oh geez, I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, because this episode was really bad.

If there was one thing I was critical of Utawarerumono all the way through so far, it's the segue between scenes, ie there is none. Events seem to happen in a rather random sort of fashion, and I'm really having trouble seeing how many of them contribute to the story overall, and how they tie in with each other. It's not an issue with the pacing, since that's been fine, but it's something that's a little more fundamental. It could be to do with the nature of fantasy/war type stories, but too many things (battles in particular) happen very suddenly, without warning. The transition from relative peace to war is just too jarring, I find.

But that's a minor thing I can deal with, because the story has been ok up til now. But something's gone wrong in this episode. I thought the plot-twist towards the end and Hakuoro's demonic side were really trite plot points. But what made it worse were the way they were presented. The dialogue was pretty tacky, and whathisface's laugh was seriously annoying and very distracting. And Orikakan

Very disappointing episode, I thought. Too much attention on plot, not enough on getting flow and atmosphere right.

Not sure if something happened during the night between the 2 of them but the next morning they are with aruru maybe they just went for a walk carefree like they used to do went they were living in Eruru's village since Eruru told him he would remain the one she knew no matter what...... naaaah xD. Anyway i dont think they behave like a couple that made love the night before, they werent even holding hands if i remember properly (not positive since i watched the episode really quickly this morning). I think they are still on a platonic stage of their relation. Maybe that scene was just a reminderer of that old moto : Have you hug your local anmensic today??? though after he wasnt actively looking for Eruru in the crowd like he did... Nice ambiguity and suggestion in their actions.

Episode was ok for the devellopement of the relationship but that is all. A typical sortie -> victory -> yeepee episode, the little bit of chat between the 2 brothers in law didnt bring anything new or that we already knew and suspected (horned mask ->oni/demon???), if the "justice guy" decide to side with the hero next episode it would suck it would feel forced on the viewer.
