Vol 2 was from that scene where Pina negotiated with the senators with Sugawara to the end of the flame dragon arc.

Spoiler for Vol 2:

Since the king gave his permission, the JSDF started to move their forces through Elibe. However Itami met up with the dark elves first (end of latest chapter).

Itami and co and 10 dark elves headed for the dragon's den to kill it. Rory stayed outside as a watch while the others went in. Right after Itami finished planting explosives in the place, the dragon came back in. Then all hell broke loose. Most of the dark elves died very quickly and some managed to waste the panzerfausts given to them by not turning them into the armor-piercing mode before firing them at the dragon. Leilei showed a berserk side of her and applied the Neumann effect to send all the weapons around flying into the dragon, effectively becoming a human panzerfaust herself. Tuka managed to snap out of it somehow and blast the dragon with lightning, killing it. The only survivors are Itami and co, none of the dark elves following them survived

After defeating the dragon they come out to find that an apostle of Hades, Gizelle had been fighting Rory outside. While Rory would normally have easily won, Gizelle had two miniature dragons following her so she was in trouble. As Itami and Rory were running away, the JSDF arrived. With mortar support and two jets the mini dragons were pulverised and Gizelle ran away.

Spoiler for Vol 3:

Leilei wanted to get her sage title so they headed to academy city.At the same time, for some reason or another, the head of the dragon which was supposed to have been making rounds around Elibe and it's surroundings ended up on the main gate of the empire's capital.

At some time the SoB managed to take over the throne while the emperor was ill. He also sent assassins after Leilei since he was jealous of her killing the dragon. He also had the bright idea of arming ogres with heavy armor and shields to block against guns. Incidentally there hasn't been an instance of this working in written history as the heavily armored ogres tended to wreak havoc when they turned on their allies. Hence they were deemed more trouble than they were worth. Pina sent two of her knights to warn Leilei.

Back in academy city, the assassin sent after Leilei, aka "The piper", first turned the serving boys in the inn they were staying in against them. After that failed, the next attempt was right before the thesis presentations where the person presenting his thesis after Leilei's turn was convinced that Leilei had stolen his work and was attempting to pass it off as her own, stealing all of his hard work. However that failed too.

Next was a female assassin attempting to directly murder Leilei right before her presentation but just think about it. A stranger walking up to a person who is already known to be a target, in front of a hall packed with magicians... Needless to say that failed too.

The first part ended with one of the knights Pina sent stabbing Leilei in the gut.

One of the first things emperor Ahole did was to lock up all the senators who were inclined to peace with Japan, so the JSDF busted them out using paratroopers. However they couldn't save Pina nor the emperor.

Back to Itami and co. The knight was told that by stabbing Leilei she would be able to save Pina. It sounded convincing since Pina was actually imprisoned in the palace. However Leilei was unhurt due to the dragon mail coat she was wearing.

Itami and co decided that they needed to get to the root of the problem and headed for the capital. There they "persuaded" emperor kitty to call off the assassin. and managed to save Pina and the emperor while they were there.

I left out the details for the other characters as it would just be too long.

Spoiler for Chapter 40 and 41:

After rereading chapt 40, I realized why Yanagida was hesitant in that fight. His best shots were in line of Noriko, The rabbit positioned herself in such a way. Makes sense why he couldn't take his best chances. He didnt want to risk a crossfire death on Noriko. I understand him for that. I didnt pick that up the first time I read it, maybe I was concentrating too much on him staying alive :s

For 41.
Well emergence treatment eh. Didn't really confirm if he died or not. But its hope for now since it wasn't mentioned. Least the bunny was brought down but kinda looked like she was the better off :/. She seemed remorseful, but that means nothing when trying to take someones life (assassin or not), but for her sake and Yanagida, lets hope it will be an attempted murder charge. I do want to see her mingle more in Itamis harem. So I have mixed feelings on whether shes to be let off on a lenient punishment.

Really like the panic throughout Alnus, and the investigation into the maids. Story did pretty well with that. Plus I liked that maid and her animal peoples part, little relieved how she admitted to spying but no way gaving an assassination order (providing its truth). Also nice how they were very pissed. And that medusa girl sounds really scary :s.

Tuka keeps getting even more annoying even when she hardly had a scene. But finally the cast is "adventuring" and "exploring". Hope thje author makes the most out of this adventure. Those Dark Elves are underestimating Rori. If they attack Itami, they are minced meat (literately I hope) ^_^ Been awhile since we have seen a Rori slaughter. We're due for one right ?

Side note, I hope Noriko finds the motivation to live, now that Yanagida fought with the threat of his own life.

Rory and Lelei are like jail baits in Japan's society, Tuka is just substituting him as a father figure because she still continues calling him father even after she got over her PTSD, Yao is just trying to please Him due to the slave contract and Pina is just trying to escape from reality due to the amount of stress she had to suffer and that she deserved a better man.

and regarding the elves... why not introduce Tuka and Yao to the huge Japanese Yumi and the English longbow for lulz? the latter has quite the funny draw strength and I have no idea about the former's assets other than the saying that an archer using it will automatically be like a cheater having aimbot.

Tuka has something way better than Japanese or English longbows.
She has a modern pully-and-wheel rotation compound bow.

The energy transfer efficiency of these 21st century compound bows are freakin' amazing.

I think that was when Pina went over to Alnus base to ask Itami to aid in the pacification of the vassal states that are starting to revolt against the Empire, mysteriously disappeared with their last contact was in a lake I think. girls started to worry and with a couple of chinooks found them both a-okay with mermaids but also getting chummy with each other which resulted in Rory whacking him with the halberd's face...
