Hey, I know!
I figured out the perfect other solution! Place Mikihisa into hiding. Go and find an alien living on earth disguised as a human from an almost extinct species (like the ones from episode 4). Get him and Saki really drunk one night. Let the magic happen! They were going extinct anyway, so why not go out with a bang?

Worst ep of this show but still better than most of the best eps from the other shows.
Next week Colour Rangers again and some hot girls. I want to see the teacher again =) Oh and the second solution was ... *censored* ... and ... *censored* ... . Sick, isn't it. |

I don't think the show has to keep dishing out highly elaborate jokes to keep us entertained (i.e, fool us). A sudden change of pace like this episode is just as great at that. I mean, I can't count the number of people who were like "I so saw that male->female bit coming" at the end of last episode. Had you had any of them predict, none of them would have predicted that there would be nothing special next episode, especially given how the prince was going to be involved and given the foreshadowing with his comment about mating when he was bug-hunting. This was as good a catch as any thus far, really. Tells us to stop over thinking things and just enjoy it. Oh and about the high quality drama part... hasn't that always been the case with this show? It gives you really really heavy stuff but doesn't attempt to provide a resolution and just lets it be and attempts to make you laugh and enjoy yourself instead. Way way better than the myriads of shows that attempt and fail heavily at a mature solution. I mean, the solution in second arc was that they left (still accursed). The solution this arc was that the gender bender got to live the way she wanted (maybe. The fish at the end was ominous). Last edited by Forsaken_Infinity; 2011-03-08 at 23:08. |

Yes. I don't think Level E is troll anime. Real troll anime is something like Mahou Shojo Madoka Magica. (Magical girl + Dark factor + Yuri)
hmm...maybe you're right... Last edited by revive4563; 2011-03-09 at 02:22. |

Yup, MG re-defined the Magical Girl genre, but Level E, on the other hand, makes fun of the genre itself [Aliens] and the past arcs turned up to be trolls made by Prince Baka.... so everyone was expectin' that this arc was a troll as well.

Actually, they are different type of troll.
Level E has a lot of troll factor by mainly in the story as comedy but also there are originality (at least in 1995) and thoughtful plot in a way. Even if Prince didn't troll at all, I think this is a good series in its own way. Meanwhile, Madoka Magica's main purpose is sensationalism. Main plot itself is a traditional "Sekai-kei" thing like Utena or Eva. Then love and hate, hope and death, madness and bizarre were portrayed in the world of magical girl that should be lovely and cute. This is a real troll.
