How many characters is this show going to have?

Anyway, it's a bit weird that all but one of these PVs are music only (and that one features Taniyama Kishou who was expected to appear, anyway). Are they still casting?

Well, I know the game has a lot of bands, and many of them have songs out already, including the bands that have been featured so far, but looking at the list of cast names I believe they've re-casted some of the rolls.

I just went and listened to the Trichronika samples again and yeah they definitely re-casted these guys, that is so not Miyano singing, which really sucks because I like the voice of the guy who was singing. At one time I think the original singers were listed and I remember thinking they were super new. I should probably try to get my hands on this CD before they redo them all with new voice talent. I've got enough Miyano character songs thank you. I was looking forward to some new people. I can understand that they probably casted the original guys for singing talent and not acting talent, and probably because they were cheap, but uh this kind of grates on me.

Thanks for the link! I don't have iTunes (PC/Android person here ) but I checked wikipedia, and from what it writes it seems that a number of the the original voices were newcomers or unknowns. (And it explains why only the Shingan Crimsons PV has singing: Taniyama did the original singing as well so they could just reuse the song).

I guess they decided to recast to give the anime more star power, but... yeah. Nothing against Miyano and Taniyama, they sings really well, but. But. (Never mind that this will air alongside UtaPri which also has Miyano and Taniyama in main, singing roles...) At least there are some other male seiyuu who are not in every singing anime ever...

Yeah, from what I understand, it looks like the plot is that the "Show by Rock" mobage exists in-show, but the main character gets a strange item in the game and that causes her to get dragged into the game world, or something.

Tbh after seeing the pv and re-watching all the music pv's for the bands I have less of an overall image of what this series is going to be about, but it certainly feels ... different, I guess? Like an odd cross between both the otome game anime adaptation style art and recent "neo-gainax" artsy style series of the past few years. It's ... odd.

This PV seems weird. I don't know what the hell is going, I assume they're seriously trying to hide something major, don't they?

Bones animating this is very much a surprise; they don't work on a lot of series that have a strong bishoujo-esque appeal such as Gosick, Soul Eater NOT! and Chaika the Coffin Princess, but having them follow the music-themed anime trend by slapping the girls as being part of the main cast made me went "what the fuck". It shows promise indeed, but at the same time it won't undermine the studio's own actiony storytelling style they constantly use in the past.

Besides this and Blood Blockade Battlefront, I'm going to guess Bones can put equal amount of effort into them and it's very likely they can, although I knew I'll end up enjoying this anime more so if it ends up as pleasant surprise.

Well the girls are part of the main cast. I'm pretty sure they are the main band you play as through the mobile story.

It's a bit like Bakumatsu Rock, but instead of battling government officials you battle other bands with music.

There is actually no main band on the mobile game. I guess there will be only 5 bands (4 bands from the game + 1 anime original band) on the anime.

Also, it feels weird that Shochiku website promoting Shingancrimsonz (http://shochikufilms.com/product/show-by-rock) while according to information that already released so far, the anime will be focused on Plasmagica.
