Silly question, but Naruto didn't air this past Thursday? Haven't seen any comments about it? Japanese holiday or something?

So after saying they where animating the two Itachi novels they skip/cut 4/5's for filler scene's with ninja cat's and now we go into another filler arc for reasons.

At this rate the manga will have been finished for two years by the time the last 23 chapters get animated.

Latest episode came out but man did it disappoint me with what they did with Izumi.

Spoiler for Rant on how anime screwed with Izumi:

I will say this for the episode: Itachi's father having the Mangekyo, the intensity of the massacre, Itachi murdering his parents, joining Akatsuki. All done well. Just an epic fail with Izumi.

If this is how they plan to adapt novels, then I shudder to think of how they're going to handle the rest of the novels. You all know this is coming. If the anime is prolonging itself despite the manga already being finished with fillers, then novels are the way to go. It's just that major changes like this are such a disappointment, especially now that it's already done. They're not going to go back and adapt the cut out scenes.

The Itachi novel (which is canon) ends when he finds out about the Uchiha's coup. The rest is straight up filler.

It's supposed to be an adaption of a 2 volume light novel but they cut 90% of the novels for filler and flashback stuff we have seen before.

well it didnt really show her dying so she might come back later to die in a different way just to prolong the flashback arc by 3-4 episodes(obito did comment on her eyes)....however if they killed her offscreen and ignored what you said happened in the novels that will be a horrible! that novel death scene sounded really sad and sweet

Spoiler for Rant on how anime screwed with Izumi: The novel shows that she was supposed to be the first casualty of the massacre with Itachi using Tsukiyomi to give her what she always wanted: a long fulfilling life with Itachi. The strain of the genjutsu was so powerful that it destroyed her mind but with her last dying breath she thanks Itachi and passes away in his arms. What a beautiful and tragic scene that was. What did the anime give us? Izumi briefly trying to tussle with Obito, Obito phasing through all her attacks, trapping her with his chains and then killing her, all while she's begging for Itachi to save her. That is bullcrap. I thought they were adapting straight out of the novel! Why the change? Why does the anime instead reinforce how broken Obito's abilities are, what an asshole Danzo continues to be and how useless the Third was? I was looking forward to Izumi. I wanted to see her in all her animated glory and the interactions she had with Itachi but we get filler cats instead. We also jump straight into the massacre. What happened to Inari from Team 2 lecturing Itachi on how to treat girls during Itachi and Izumi's date? What happened to developing Itachi's relationship with Izumi as they grew older?
