Hijiri seems to think Toru has some role in Kuga's fate. That of course does not say whether it will really happen or not, since a person's fate isn't set in stone.

As for their little conversation, I don't think Hijiri's reason of not interfering was because of Toru's reasons but I think it's also working for him because the more it's getting close to getting his little payback for Kuga's "abuse" on Toru. So either way, he's satisfied

What a sad chapter, but it makes me love this manga so much more! As evil as she is, Kuga is a brilliant character. I too think "Iris Hunting" is purely psychological, and I can't wait to see how this all unfolds. Also, I think the "that" Kijiri is referring to isn't Toru, but Koyuki instead. Toru said it himself, no matter how much you try, you can't keep her away. I believe she'll be stubborn enough to talk to Toru regardless of Kuga's words.

That might not be the entire truth since the rumour of Iris Hunter spreaded long before and there is a victim count. So I'm assuming it was planned, even taking away the iris of the person she might have liked. In essence I don't think her agenda correlated to the issue with her boyfriend. Maybe something was concocted long ago during before the festival. Even with that said I still think it’s murky on who or what is an Iris Hunter.

You misunderstood. She laments that what she can see gives her tragic outcomes, and that the world would be better had Irises not existed, so she's out to erase everyone's Irises and take general revenge on society for showing the kind of ugliness that she saw in her lover.

I don't think she is directly targeting her friends, and I think she might be consciously letting closer friends like Sasamori be, except for Toru. She noticed his problem-solving prowess over past chapters, which is an obvious threat to her mission, so he must go away.

I view the entire arc as essentially a chain of misunderstandings, highlighting how perfect information with no communication would lead to disaster as everyone makes their own conclusions and acts upon them. Toru himself is guilty of that.

I agree with you here, Kuga is most definitely not a bitch, I think because almost everyone has their own Iris, that provides them with perfect information which many people act on themselves as seen when the gang see the confession. Sasomori herself likes to act on her own accord which is why the Toru is the qualified person to help her since from young he has been forced to use his imagination to see what others see through thier Iris.

Kuga herself because her Iris shows others emotions, it makes her more introverted as she knows how other people are feeling and since the way in which she has always understood emotion is through her Iris it is hard for to express Emotion so she does it in a very well 'evil' way.
