Most anime productions employ the cheaper dub-after method forcing the actors to adapt their speech to the existing lip flaps. Productions with larger budgets can opt to dub the script first, forcing the animators to adapt to the speech patterns. A few TV directors like Matsuo Kou (Kurenai, Red Garden) managed to get their production committees to agree to this method. Usually the dub-first method produces more realistic speech on-screen. It could be that the OVA and TV versions used different orders for budgetary reasons.
In Girlish Number, a recent satirical show about making a mediocre anime, the voice actors in the story don't even see the animated material when performing. They have to voice to storyboards.

The latest episode is definitely my favorite episode yet. It both made a ton of references, was fun, and also happened to subtly say a lot. I was very impressed overall. I'm enjoying this trend. It was also really nice to see them give Sucy so much character development in one episode. The part about Sucy's precious memory was very well done.

Police Sucyies were driving what looked to me like the classic Morris Minor 'Panda Car', and that with their helmets were more a nod to the British police. After all they are in Glastonbury! Here's the type of 'Panda Car' Have to admit I laughed at that scene. |

Sorta depends on whether or not they get caught, and if the punishment for raising the dead, which is "one hundred times as agonizing as a punishment more frightful than death," includes expulsion.

Decent episode, world building like Episode 5.
We get the first glimpse of the Golden Age of Witches in the TV show proper. Also we get a bit more of characterization for the principal. She knows Ursula's true identity doesn't she? Besides that, she's also pro-fun and probably like-minded to Ursula, as she was the one who exceptionally let in Akko even after the disastrous Entrance Ceremony. Had a lot of fun with Sucy's low-key antics this episode. Is it me or are the trio closer this week compared to last week? It felt that way to me. Finally we have Akko's first actual performance even though it was played off as a joke. But it convinced the citizens, so it seems she has actual performing and acting talent? Maybe she's a bit closer to becoming the next Chariot than she thinks. Also like the low key money collecting Sucy did lol.

That undead guy is pretty amusing actually. Felt like this week's episode was pretty much played out for fun.
The small little bits of the Principal and Ursula was also noticeable. Yeah, I'm guessing she also knows a bit more about Ursula than she is letting on.

Yeah, I would not be surprised if the Headmistress knows about Ursula. At least got that feeling from the conversation. Would explain how someone could get a job at Luna Nova despite having to create a fake identity. Although with the amount of time she was out of the picture she probably had enough time to create a new identity and get herself the requirements for a teaching license. Either way I think there is some knowledge there.
Also agree that this might be Akko's first of many public performances. If she wants to be Chariot....that's a start . Maybe also a sign that people are actually eager to see those kind of performances again. Anyways nice bit of world building and a surprising focus on the Headmistress. That was nice.

I'm glad that as I predicted the side characters are now getting some real development so that we can slowly start caring about them for real.
This was a fun episode and partway through I sort of guessed that pirate's identity lol though I expected him to be Spoiler for episode 9:
I definitely agree that it seems like the principal knows a thing or two about Shiny Chariot. I honestly have a suspicion that she hides a lot of her personality behind a veneer of stoicism. In my opinion, it's hard to read most of her emotions since her facial expressions seem to vary so little, but she was being extremely relaxed and pleasant at the beginning of the episode so I can't tell. I'm honestly pretty curious about some of these things. I have a feeling we'll get to see the golden age of magic by the end of this show. Aside from that, I liked the episode. It was fun as I'd hoped for. It felt so short though... I guess that's what happens when I'm having too much fun sigh.
