what should I do.....oh I know!

What was the name of that other novel Sushi-Y mentioned?

Owari no Chronicle? mmmmm.... plan B!
Um... your wiki says that you're working with Kuroneko, so what's surprising about this? Or is there some miscommunication going on somewhere or something like that?

It's hard enough just to try to understand it, forget translating it.

Isn't it suppose to be The Crimson Flame Ball of Atonement?

赤 can mean anything of a reddish color. It's the most common word used to describe red. While you can translate it as crimson if you want, it's probably more normal to translate it as the equally-common English word "red".

For crimson, I'd use 紅 (kurenai).

炎 means flame. (the more common "fire" would be 火)

玉 generally means something of a ball shape, or coin. In this case, it's used to refer to the ruby that appears in the volume. Ball doesn't make much sense, and ruby is too specific, so jewel.

As for atonement and redemption, they're pretty much synonyms, so I don't think anyone would mind either way. Personal preference maybe.

@Srin Tuar: The chest comment was aiming to soften up the reunion, so the readers would feel like Louise and Saito's relationship has finally returned to normal, even if only for a bit.

I found it quite funny. It wouldn't be Saito if he didn't make a joke there.

I gave up using Ruiz because it says Louise everywhere in the official medias (anime OP, for example), even Yamaguchi-san himself confirmed in the afterwords of vol.3 that Louise's name and character came from Louise de la Vallière.

Similarly, Henrietta's character came from Henrietta Anne Stuart. Just like the novel, the real-life Louise and Henrietta also knew each other well and were about the same age. Henrietta married the Duke of Orléans, Philippe I, when she was 17, and Louise was her maid of honor. Something similiar to that occured in vol.3 of Zero no Tsukaima as well (except the actual marriage ^^; ).

As for the other character names, most of them are pretty self-explanatory, the names in the anime's OP is probably the standard that everyone uses.

Here's the list of names and terms from vol.1 of the novel which will be used as the standard in the translation project (subject to changes):

How do you know? You been reading my secret plans?!

Well since there is alot of uncertainty, putting aside sarcasm and let me state this clearly for the record.

Zero no Tsukaima novel is being undertaken by the following groups:

Kuroneko
Baka-Tsuki
Kawaii Heavens

Only Baka-Tsuki has state so officially on the website, since organisation of the project is hosted by us.

So before you ask any question:

"Urusai!" "Urusai!" oh and.."Urusai!"

Ahh Onizuka-GTO, please mention any translation of any chapter of Zero no Tsukaima novel in this thread (just like you guys do in the novel thread for Suzumiya Haruhi novel).

That way I can promise you that the release of any translations will be mentioned on Manganews
