Good, because I already watched the OVA to catch up with this series

Since this could be the only series I'll watch this season (I'm still shocked, need to double check to be really sure, because it never happened before) it's better to be good

Anyways, about the Studio I'm not that worried, I loved Chrno Crusade, FMP! and Saikano (but never watched that again for obvious reasons). Yes they are old, but this should not be something convoluted like action / sci-fi series.

I'm a bit more worried, just a bit, about the character designs, they didn't impressed me. And the MC seem to suffer of strabismus. And he didn't in the OVA. Oh, I also hoped that Ranka VA wasn't confirmed as Eba. Didn't liked the VA voices in the OVA honestly.

I'm mildly more afraid of Yamauchi as Director. But hopefully we wouldn't have anything like, nor near, SSY. This is not that kind of show. Someone surely must have told him that, right?

Last, but not the least ... NTR, good to know this in advance, I need to be prepared. Hopefully it will be something more a-la Suzuka than Kiminozo.

Spoiler for Episode 1:

This doesn't look as bad as expected, but the anime could have covered from the beginning and not just the Tokyo arc, although it did help that the next episode is flashback-centered, but I don't want it to be rushed and it might cover all the important scenes. The artwork is very faithful to the manga compared to the OVA, and the director Shigeyasu Yamauchi puts his own artistic touch as always. I can understand why Gonzo puts a lot more effort into it than InuHasa, and they did cover some low-key scenes with style. The story however is a bit too ordinary, Haruto have a interesting voice by Yoshimasa Hosoya but he can act pretty dense. I'm surprised the channel that did air this anime didn't censor the pantyshots, and the music was great. I wonder if Yuzuki will comes into action, though the theme songs are superb. Let's see if we can enter to the border of rage and how good the anime's story will turn out though I'll be cautious about it.

But I'm not sure how much sense it all made for people who haven't read the manga. I guess ep2 will explain things by flashback.

Anyway, I liked it more than I expected to. Great atmosphere. I really got the feelings, speedy as development was. Daring choices by Yoshida Reiko and the director. Decent voice-acting. Drawing/animation good enough to be effective. Nice shots of Haruto's ear, the rainy streets, etc.

And Hosoya Yoshimasa's singing of the ED was excellent.

Yamauchi is easily one of my favourite directors since the brilliantly fenomenal Casshern Sins, but this show is seriously weird. Something just feels off in every scene.

On a general note: Anime only viewer.
From what I can see from the manga viewers the anime hasn't started right at the beginning of it (in medias res) - yet despite that, I never truly felt that was the case. If I were to read the manga without knowing the anime started later on (around CH80 given what you're all saying) I would have been confused as to what I was reading and whether I was reading the right thing.

It all fits quite well together. Whether this 'arc' is more interesting or it makes more sense to animate this given certain plot points I don't know - but I'm liking this. I'm getting Myself;Yourself vibes, albeit with a couple of things inverted.

Wasn't sure at first when I saw the premise but I'm in for this.

Well, at least he made some pretty nice friends..
The mood of the anime was kinda sad.
Like he lost something and was looking for it...
So he has some unresolved things from his past as well.
Think I'm gonna be watching this one!

The art is nice so far, but the voices seem a little off. I'm not sure if it's a deliberate portrayal of the various accents but Haruto sounds like a gangster while Asuka sounds like a delinquent. It's the first time I'm listening to my favourite VA voicing this sort of character though, and I didn't even recognise the usual familiar intonation at first, so it'll take some time to get used to.
