Well it was alright. Not as strong as Hugtto, but better than Kira.

I suppose if you wanted to be negative it's kind of amusing that the bond between the first two precure for this series is based entirely around the MC having an alien fetish.

Also singing transformations. That's now here. Let's take it easy Twinkle. Even Symphogear doesn't have them singing as they are transforming.

But again, it was ok. Kind of a change of pace. Going the route of fighting as mass of minions before taking on a low tier boss. Guess we'll have to wait to see what the monsters of the week are really going to look like.

Alright, time to make some comparisons between this and Houkago no Pleiades--and come on Star☆Twinkle, Hoshina? Can you at least try to hide the fact you're naming the main character after the show's theme? (I mean, does anyone even know what a subaru is?)

It takes Hikaru all of 90 seconds to get bonked on the head--compared to Subaru who doesn't hit her head until after the opening. Hikaru is not only immediately accepting of everything going on around her, she is super excited by all of it--Subaru isn't too fazed by the events of her show, but she doesn't immediately accept it either. Hikaru gets the hang of her powers pretty quickly, where Subaru struggles for a episode or two.

Lala looks a fair bit like Mira from Dimension W, wouldn't anyone agree?

Other than that, the fight scene was kind of interesting I thought, seemed like they established some rules on how the characters can and can't fight--which is good.

A Japanese car brand. Also the Japanese name for the Pleiades. The second one is probably the source of the name here, but it is also very common for anime characters to be named after cars.

Precure has a long way to go if it wants to be like Symphogear.

Why do so many precure fairies look nearly identical? Break out some creativity!

Lala is clearly best girl.

Singing transformation is... interesting. At least it isn't as annoying as the "kyuu" from Hugtto's transformations. But it feels like it lacks... something I can't describe easily. Impact? Snap? Power? I don't know but the transformation sequence itself just feels weaker than it should.

Lead girl has a number of classic pink cure traits, although she's lacking the "I want to help/befriend/love everyone" schtick that drives many of them.

Not a bad start. The show just needs to make sure it focuses lots of attention on Lala.

I haven't noticed any characters named after cars, would you care to name any?

I need to correct myself about what I said--while it is true that Star☆Twinkle is lazy with the surname it picked for the main character, Houkago no Pleiades is guilty for naming it's own protagonist after the car company that funded the show.

It's funny--after every single strange thing that happens in this episode--how it's only when she transforms that she questions something that's going on.

Lead girl has a number of classic pink cure traits, although she's lacking the "I want to help/befriend/love everyone" schtick that drives many of them.

Hikaru's definitely different than other magical girl heroines--especially with her adoration for the bizarre.

On a side note, her mahou shoujo outfit is cute.
