We ALL now that Yuno still has her problem aboutnot having a goal (which also confirms that this series wont end in the Sae*Hiro graduation). For that reason the one or maybe two new residents (i think there will only be one) will have a direct or inderect role getting Yuno to decide her goal. The graduation is gonna be such a bittersweet experiencifor all of us, so please... PLEASE, all who watch the series, do NOT judge whoever comes to the apartments for not being like Hiro or Sea

No kidding. The Madoka movie is coming out barely a month before this, and if rumor is to be believed Kizumonogatari is also up for release this fall. (Or next fall. You can never tell with SHAFT.) That's what now, three major SHAFT franchises all getting new material in the next few months?

[mod edit: this part was moved from the 4th TV series thread]
What I'm hoping for is that the OVAs due in November get translated relatively quickly. I don't know for sure about a fifth full season after that because, unless you want to really do serious chronological dislocation, it would be without Hiro and Sae. that might be interesting, though, in the event that the writers really want to get creative in terms of characterization. Yuno and Miyako really would be the "seniors" to the others living at the Hidamari Apartments, with all the responsibilities that entails. Yuno would, of course, take it seriously, and Miyako would take it as seriously as she takes anything. But how well-equipped will they be? Neither of them have Hiro's strong maternal instinct or Sae's quiet dedication. (Miya-chan doesn't have quiet anything, of course). It would be amusing to see Yuno's first attempt at the sort of group dinners that Hiro could manage so effortlessly. I see Yuno's main potential problem will be trying too hard. She usually does and it tends to get her into trouble. Miyako, on the other hand, breezes through life as much as she possibly can -- and is so intuitive and creative that she can get away with it. While Yuno agonizes about whether she's doing things the right way, Miya-chan simply does them the way she feels like doing them and it usually works out. --- This will be tough. Wonderful, and tough. I'm reminded of the graduation episode of Azumanga Daioh and all the flurry of emotions that generated when I saw it for the first time. We screened that at the local club when it aired back in 2003 at it is one of my most indelible memories in anime fandom. There were tears. There was applause. It was an incredible experience and that was without potentially-tragic subplots. I'll have to really steel myself for this one....

Is it really over six years since the first series of Hidamari Sketch popped onto our screens? It is, but any new Hidamari anime always feels like revisiting a favourite place.
Having watched the first of these specials, I can't help feeling that this may be where all good things come to an end. I'd love to see the manga continue for as long as until Yuno and Miyako leave, it would have a sense of completeness, and if that happens I'd be happy to see another anime series in maybe 2015. But if this does prove to be the swan song, then from this first episode it's going out in style. I suspect I shall weep buckets when I see the second episode.... |

This wasn't as much of a tear jerker as I thought it would be. Probably because we didn't actually get to see Sae and Hiro moving out of the apartments. The part I enjoyed the most was seeing how they met. I've been wanting to see this for the longest time. Unsurprisingly, they hit it off right away.
The next seasons aren't going to be the same without them. There is going to be more Hidamari, right? Right?
