that's right and we remember that chapter what the Aunt said to Terumi about Genji's lover died by the cures or like you say possess by a evil spirit called by her rival.

From the information I got online is that majority of Genji women died young and painfully, other than Aoi it really didn't mentioned how they died.

Also Genji I think is bisexual, one of the woman he pursued was very tenacious and he decided to go after her brother to get to her (yeah.........you can figure out how he got to him on your own).
