Ryoko is like an agent, a spy or someone sent by the Data Entities to observe Haruhi.

She is 'programmed' to be popular with human beings, as an attempt to get as close to Haruhi as possible. To be really popular with humans, you must look good, have a great character and attitude, that's all Ryoko is.

Ryoko was designed to look hot for her job lol

Of course she failed in her job because Haruhi hates normal humans. If Ryoko was more like Yuki, she might have caught her attention more lol

No actually in that particular quote you quoted, can be viewed as either ways:

1. misinterpretion on your side
2. mild translation error on bakatsuki's side

From my understanding, I actually think its a combination of both points. The translation wasn't exactly perfect, I wouldn't use 'Definitely'. So because of that you've misinterpreted the sentence.

If I rephrase it in a clearer but longer way:

Maybe some people might find Haruhi more outstanding. Hmm... yea, there should be people who does.

Kyon is making a general statement that both girls are lovely ladies, but there may even be some who think Haruhi is lovelier than Mikuru. 'Even' emphasizes that most people would think that Mikuru is lovelier, but some would actually think Haruhi is lovelier. So he didn't tell us that he thinks Haruhi is lovelier, to our disappointment

About Mikuru Beam

Am I right to say the first time was a "real" mikuru beam because Haruhi wished for it, but the subsequent times are all computer graphics kinda?

About the anime series

1) Since adult mikuru can come back in time to meet Kyon, does that mean the whole Haruhi being god and stuff thing gets resolved sometime soon, like in the few years time? Although thats like tons of time to do all sorts of things. Pretty curious on how the whole thing will sort itself out?

2) Haruhi is "god", people can't time travel back a certain time which is 3 years before when the story started is because, well, haruhi changed the way time flow? Thats why "Time Travel" cannot go before 3 years back unless Haruhi wished for it that is she won't because she doesn't know about it?

3) Wtf is that Data Integration Thought Entity thingie? Does it by any chance mean the world is just made up of data data matrix etc data data etc?

4) Why is it always that 3 years ago did her "Abilities" gets noticed? Weird? Explained anywhere in the novel?

Of course, if the questions are answered in the later novels, then tell me so and don't spoil me.

And some questions on the novel...

What direction does the novel take after volume 1? It kinda seemed more like "The Adventures of SOS" to me from the episodes they showed in the anime. Personally I find the story in Vol 1 quite interesting, hoping for more development of that story but it seems not from what I've looked around. Anyone knows? Wondering if I should get the novel, but I'd sure be darn disappointed if it continued on as "The Adventures of SOS", and stuff.

no, they're all real, except that there're different types of "laser" and "partical laser" you see. lol.

Because of what will happen, the people from the future returns to make sure things go that way... But for Mikuru its a "cuter" exception.

its because of a timeline distortion, which is during the time where.... **on went back with Lil' Mikuru and help her do SOS Sign on the school field. Thats when all the twisting in the timeline happened.

They're just like us human beings, excpet they're more advanced and they're already the Ultimate being in the universe. As you see, technology or growth in each living thing has a limit, and will stop evolving someday. That DIT is able to "manipulate" objects at will, but of course, they've got their own conscience too. They see Haruhi as a sign of "another" evolution possibility.

4) Why is it always that 3 years ago did her "Abilities" gets noticed? Weird? Explained anywhere in the novel?

Its not, but rather, the future development of the SOS's life and Haruhi's changes.
they even explain the stories of how did this and that happen and what happens after that happened. its more like a detailed story instead of a 22 Min anime. Anime tends to show more in action, but the novel tells more in detail, in every, single, bit.

Well, since Yuki had to 'immunize' her against the effects of each lense but we only see Yuki rush Mikuru in that first scene, it's safe to say that in the later Mikuru-beam scenes (with effects edited in) she had already been immunized against that particular lense at the time the footage used was shot and didn't create any effect.
