Episode 3:
I like the second half of this episode with the emperor and the sick princess. Emperor is a bit selfish wanting to keep the door only to themselves, but I guess he wanted his grandaughter to enjoy it for herself after he passes away. Thinking about the parfait made me go buy ice cream. ___________________________________ Episode 4: Like both the first and second half of this ep. Amazing chef... he sure has a lot of big shots as customers - the hero of the lizard men is his customer. And the lizard men like omurice so much that they even built an altar for the door. Now I realize why the threat of "will never cook for you again" on episode 1 has a lot of impact on Gaganpo... if he got involved in a brawl that damage the resto.. then the tradition of their tribe of eating omurice would end because of him. Fardania sure is a strict vegan... I laughed when the other people eating in the room looks evil to her. The knight captain, the old sage, even the princess eating parfait looked like villains... because they eat animals?

He has an emperor (or rather the princess) and the red dragon, one of the most powerful beings in that world as a customer. A lizardman hero is nothing. The princess isn't eating an animal. But it's more of barbaric than evil. |

ep 4's food narrator explaining the food and process to make them makes me hungry...
never knew simple omurice could sound so delicious... Also... the Lizardmen should have tried to save up more money (silver stone) or negotiate a way to get more omurice using other trades. Also also... them Vegans... Also also also... "I'll make something even better" (then shows a scene of baby sucking boobies) (is it trying to imply Sucking Boobies is better than Tofu Steak?) (well, in a way Sucking Boobies may taste better than Tofu Steak... *slowly sliding out the door*) Last edited by chaos_animagic; 2017-07-28 at 21:47. |

Forgot to say this.. I was surprised the chef actually makes his own tomato sauce by crushing tomatoes - I thought he used ketchup from the supermarket.

@Anh
I too also don't like that part with the merchant... but I think it's sort of understandable because he's a ... merchant. Merchants exist to make money, and he's doing just that. The lizardmen, for them the most precious thing is omurice.. so I guess they're glad to pay the cook - people spend money to get things important to them, and the lizardmen are doing just that. They've also been doing it for at least 30 years, so the tribe probably have some reliable source of coins.

Yeah, but what the restaurant owner's angle in this? Why overcharge the lizardmen if he's not even greedy?
They may have "reliable source of coin", but maybe they could use their money on other things, if they didn't have such an expensive omelet addiction. Things that would make life in the swamp healthier or safer. |

If you watch the episode, after the lizardman has finished eating and the owner comes out with the takeaways he picks out a few coins from the lizardman's purse, he doesn't take the whole lot. The only coins I see in his hand are copper, not silver.

I don't think she's vegan by choice, but by necessity. Cows are obligate herbivores, but they drink milk as babies too. Apparently, once weaned off milk (and that appears to be specifically elven milk only), elves cannot handle animal protein at all, it makes them sick.

now we learn the background of the lion man which honestly i still don't understand what happened with him, i only understood which he ended as a gladiator in a arena, but why he was throwed which i could not understood and the humans live with the "demons"?? like was the demonking which asked him to be catch and turned in a gladiator but this is a "human country"???(or at last look like), and instead of him try to use the door to escape his destiny he just go and become another victim of this nasty place(restaurant), becoming another "food slave" which now become totally adict to it and can't live without it, poor things from this world, being turned in "food adicted people".
the second part was about the "half elf girl, which is living for some centuries as a sorceror and thanks to the "elder mage" also become a "food slave" she become a "pudim" slave, she goes so furter in her desire for pudim which she created a magic to prevent the pudim to become spoiled. i liked the explanation about half elfs, it's really look like something from D&D they just forget to mention, which half-elfs or don't proper explain which they are also are casted away among elfs not just humans, because they have a inbalance between then since while they for sure live for much more than a human they span life still short for elvens and the fact which they remember a little humans or physically or by spirit make the "most elitist" elfs look down on then, that is why normally they ending making they own villages and life sepparated from both humans and elfs, because they can't proper life among both of them. another note about previous episode and the vegan thing, to be honest this thing about "vegan" is probably just from this anime, because none of the original source or most common sources elfs never where really described as "vegans" even the wooden elfs(a type of elfs, like drow and moon elfs), they not described as unique vegetarian, they living in forest and woods but they also "eat meat" the difference is which they only hunt what they need and only for food, they respect the balance of nature and not hunt just for "pleasure" but for sure they not specifically vegetarian, they can have some foods based on herbs and plants but they still eat meat and meat products.

Is that Yukari Tamura as Princess Victoria? I wasn't expecting hear her here.
Aletta can't read the language the menus are written in? I wonder if this is just due to being from a different part of the continent, or a more general never learned to read situation. Also makes me a bit sad that she still reflexively asks "please don't fire me."

A couple of things here that the anime didn't do from the source:
1. Victoria actually doesn't have a door to the restaurant in her laboratory: she actually MADE the door via magic. Essentially, she's cheating by making an entrance appear where she wants it, which illustrates just how much of a magical genius she is. They do imply it with the visuals in this episode where we see a magic circle under the door, but it's never explicitly clarified in this episode. 2. For those who may not have inferred what the box she puts the pudding in is, it's essentially a magical refrigerator.

I wonder how the fight would of went if the lion guy didn't eat before fighting that beast in the arena. Maybe same result but might be more difficult for him.
I'm curious if we'll see elf characters interact in the future. That would be interesting to see.
