EDIT: As Captain --- Marika has the right and privilege to preside over Jenny and Lynn's marriage. XD === EDIT: And more... Comparing 10% of 50 trillion per year == Half of Serenity's annual budget. This is in comparison with Jenny's projected revenue with her start up travel company. This means... Spoiler:

Assuming that Serenity is a Constitutional Monarchy, then the Royal Palace Annual Budget is probably not synonymous with the Planetary, let alone State-wide National Budget. The question is, what's the buying power of One Unit of Money? How much does Chiaki's Parafiats Cost? 100? 200? 1? 2.50? For comparisons, the British Royal Budget was 38.2 million Pounds in 2009-2010. So, the Serenity's Royal Palace Budget is likely larger, after adjusted in real terms than the British Royal budget, even if we assumed 100 Units of Money roughly equals a Single Pound/Dollar/Euro, even after adjusted for Purchasing Power Parity. Speaking of which, I wonder how many Imperial Central Bankers there are, and what are the consequences for failing their mandates. Now, if the Royal Palace Budget is the entire Government Budget, that's a different story. Granted, 80 Million Pounds of Profit for a One Year Old Start up seems improbable, but it's possible that Jenny is starting from a rather well established base here. |

Quite frankly, we have real life examples of that today... where you can take it further. Say... like Bill Gates. His annual income is worth more than some countries. As much as many others paid more attention to the yuri -- I'm paying more attention to a bigger picture here: the power of corporations vs governments. And right now, as shown with this Doolittle company... you have a company with a fleet of ships, as if it is some police/military force. To that, I think: "WTF!"

Again, it reminds me very strongly of EVE Online, where corporations are so powerful they have large fleets. Also, Meister Babylon? Your idea you mentioned a while back - merchant shipping with disguised weapons to fend off pirates - has been used a fair bit in history; good ideas are the kind that will occur over and over again. The accepted terminology in this modern age is Q-ship.
