I think the real question is why do we even NEED a spinoff about Senriyama. They're not as plot important anymore since they're not in the finals. I suppose just fanservice and to milk Toki's bizarre popularity as much as possible.

Ritz you absolute madwoman! There shouldn't be anything too new except characters but i'm still looking forward to it. I've been told that MekiMeki does mainly yuri doujin which sounds about right.

I mean, I like the Senriyama people and maybe we'll even get to see the people at Himematsu too, but isn't middle school from before Toki awakened her abilities? I guess the spin-off will not be very mahjong oriented.

Mekimeki... why does that sound famiOH GODD-ok, ok calm down. So, the goddess of Nanofate is involved in a Toki and Ryuuka spinoff? That is literally the stuff dreams are made of! Just thinking of all the sugary sweetness puts a smile on my face.

Characters are my favorite aspect of Saki, so it's more than enough to keep me interested. Besides, that didn't stop biyori.

And yes, this is a really good yuri artist we're talking about here. Done a lot of great Nanofate stuff, but also indulges into kancolle, and apparently does the art for one of the wixoss manga.

What we definetly need is something to keep us talking about the franchise while the main series takes its sweet time doing anything. And what's so bizarre about Toki's popularity? She's fun, fits the deadpan/non-chalant archetype and proved to be a total badass.

Characters are my favorite part as well. And if she's done Nanofate then there is a good chance I've seen her stuff. For the manga it's listed she's done art for Fantasista Doll and Gakkougurashi anthology as well as the two you've listed.

Though more material on pretty major characters is a good thing, but them not having any part in the main plot puts a damper on it.

Maybe it will be more SoL/yuri than mahjong.

I have absolutely no problems with that last part. And I'm always for learning more about likable characters.

Just finished catching up with the Main series.

About Nodo-mama contrary to my expectation she's quite outgoing compared to how I imagined her to be. Since Nodoka's father is a rather stern conservative overachiever type, I kinda expect the wife to be soft spoken obedient type so that he can keep her under control all the time. Well this is fine too since it's unlikely that he will change his mind once Nodoka looses the tournament without the aid from the mother.

About Ritz's attempt to hype Shizu and dehype Teru. While I think it's a bit too late at this point, but I'm under the opinion that Shizu's hyping is partially to distract us from Nelly and Awai whose power and backstory hasn't been completely revealed yet.

Senriyama's spinoff is really strange if it's just purely about flashback of their middle school days since we already got that part covered in Achiga so why repeat that? I suspect there could be something else going on such as introducing a new character that will be competing in the individual tournament who went to the same middle school as Toki and Ryuuka. Is it just me but Ryuuka's boobs are prominently larger compared her highschool version.
