Yuki going no-holds-barred full-on attack in manipulating Alya shows her and Masachika to be in the same league in terms of wit, and gives an idea on how fearsome the non-siblings-siblings as a duo must have been in mid-school. It's a nice contrast to the diabetically-sweet cuteness scenes we've had so far.

It's almost time for the closing speeches and Alya and Masachika are getting as ready as they can. Will Alya be able to overcome her social anxiety and find a way to overcome Yuki? With Masachika by her side, she might just pull through .
Yuki's lucky Alya is as straightforward and honest as she is because she's willing to accept and face Yuki genuinely no matter what her true "face" is, because who doesn't adapt to their environment every now and then? As long as they still want to be friends, that's what matters. Though Yuki also woke up the sleeping monster that is her big brother, so she better watch out for that . Masha pulled off a coin flip! I'm so proud of her! Even if she just wanted to impress her little sister who couldn't care less . Look, Yuki's got her game face on from the OP! And she's delivering a consummate politician speech, making the students think she'll really listen to their voices and make a better and more fun school environment for everyone. Will she actually accomplish any of that? Who cares! She just needs to make them believe that . Ayano "hmph" is adorable . So how will Alya recover from the obvious lead Yuki now has? Why, by dishing out an entire Russian introduction! And with that icebreaker out of the way, Alya wins everyone over with her sincerity and forthrightness. Is she the perfect candidate? No. Does she have her faults? Yes. But she works hard and she tries her best, and she's willing to put her all into this along with the rest of the school if they'll give her a chance and watch how she'll grow and become a president worthy of them. If she doesn't, she'll drop out, but I think now students are starting to believe she CAN pull it off. And of course she impressed Masachika, which means everything to her ! Bring us home Masachika! With the usual jokes and gags, but also how much you believe in Alya (enough to dump Yuki for) AND how your presidency will rope in Taniyama and Nonoa to boot. What better way to sell a President than one who can bring in skilled former rivals into their cabinet ? Yuki definitely lost this round, but the war isn't over. An anime villain can't dominate all the time of course ! And with everything wrapped up, it's time for Masachika to reward Alya...and what better way than by letting her finally call him by his first name? "Masachika-kun" has a nice ring to it, as does Masachika and Alya spending Summer Break together, especially with that winning Alya smile ! One last Sumippe ED for the season! Featuring Alya and Masachika looking longingly at each other and the whole gang !

The conclusion is a bit off track. Masachika and Alya stand before the bulletin board of students' final exam results. Alya ranks number one, and Yuki ranks number two. The transition form the student election process is not smooth. Well, the election process is not over yet, but they have the summer break already. I was expecting the ending theme including on particular song. Maybe there is still chance next season.

Ok, for some reason it hadn't registered to me that the current president was only elected two months ago meaning the next election won't happen for a long time. Why are they boring us so much with it now? This show would have been so much better without the whole election crap. This series is at its best when the characters are interacting normally with each other. The first two episodes were pretty much the peak, though the one where Alya teased the hell out of Masachika was also great.
At least season two shouldn't focus on the election. Probably. And since summer break is starting, you know what it means... swimsuit episode!

Also when I was an ALT in Japan, the student council elections happened during the second semester (sometime between September and November, if I recall), so this timing is especially weird and nonsensical. |

it gave me the impression that yuki don't stand a chance against masachika unless she pulls all the dirty tricks she can and that would only make her look worse. I guess we'll see in the next season.
this was nice and fun, nothing that big special but worth a second season to want to see. |
