Seoul's new ambassadors - Red Velvet
South Korea sent a delegation of performers across the DMZ including the girl group, Red Velvet. I looked at a couple of their music videos last night. To this totally uninformed viewer, they seem planted in the cutesy style rather than the more sexualized performances by groups like Girls Generation. Given the puritanical nature of the DPRK, this was probably a calculated decision.
Rather a contrast with Kim's supposedly favorite band, Moranbong Band. (They have a newer version of "Without a Break" released last year with, perhaps, a new generation of missiles in the background. I laugh every time I see the DPRK functionaries dancing in the aisles. As I've said before, it seems a bit superfluous to take an encore after the planet has been destroyed.)
