In the game they mentioned Gallia citizens do undergo military training even at a young age as part of their schooling. I think Welkin is in his early 20's and Alicia is 19 or so. Welkin also mentioned he did have high grades in tank tactics or something.
The first episode was definetely a setup episode, it did take a bit for the game to get going after the beginning cutscenes/battles. But it really is one of the best strategy rpg's I've ever played. I hope the anime can live up to it. The CANVAS graphics from the game is probably the best anime look I have ever seen, its like water colors brought to life as a anime. So A-1's their attempt at it took me a little bit to get used to but its still a good looking anime. Welkin is a bit of a airhead but he does become a good commander. |

You meant Marina Wolfstein, the sniper, right? If so, yeah, she was definitely a must have, she was indeed the best sniper you will ever get.
Speaking of which, I hope we do not forget some of studio Ghibli's films, as they were a major inspiration for the game and later, the anime's graphics. The style that is the Canvas Engine certainly had been done before. - Tak (On the other hand, Gallia imitates Switzerland almost to a T)

The town watch has to be really desperate if Susie is part of it. Just doesn't seem like the type for it. Would probably fit in better with the fleeing civilians. Think they kept the mistaken identity thing going on for a bit too long, but oh well.

I just wanted to grab Susie and yell in her face "What the hell are you doing with the Bruhl Town Watch, woman?!"
Here's the ED: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/u...es/313119.html PS - The PM of Gallia's has a weird hobby.

They were drafted into the militia by age, your right when you think that Susie shouldnt be there, that is indeed how bad the situation is for them. Didnt see any civilians 15-30 escaping eh? She has no choice.
And yes I meant Marina earlier, a sniper must be a lone wolf imo. I cant wait to see how theyll use other potentials, like Edy's "panicky" annd such. Isara>* btw |

The problem with that is that the game has a pretty leisurely start; if they followed it, they'd have had to devote airtime to Welkin and Isara packing up their house while Alicia dropped by to introduce herself and hand over some sorry-I-arrested-you bread, and then everyone would have a nice chat about Welkin's family circumstances and Alicia's career aspirations over tea. I'd strongly suspect doing that would bore the pants off anime-only viewers, though, and game-players have already watched those cutscenes and really don't need to see them again. |

My comment was based on the anime version of events and trying to explain how it is possible that Alicia could not know the identity of either Welkin or Isara. I probably should have been more specific, but I assumed that since this is the anime thread the anime events are the ones being discussed. The changes between the game and the anime can get confusing. |

That was a translator decision (probably derived from its use in the translation of the game). Listening to the Japanese, she said "teikokugun" which just means Imperial Army and gets used formally elsewhere. So she wasn't exactly demonizing them any more than usual.

You can cut out a lot of that stuff and still get over the identity stuff shortly. Say, they clear it up with Martha on the road (Alicia doesn't go back quite yet), Welkin goes home and Alicia goes to the meeting, you get a short intro with him and Isara, Alicia shows up to apologize, Imps attack, bam. Solved. I guess I can't complain too much after the first episode. Things will start to pick up next week, I suspect.
