For Germany to lose: Denmark has to win 1-0, 2-1 or with a bigger goal difference and Portugal has to win.
If Denmark wins 3-2, 4-3, 5-4 etc. then Germany and Denmark qualify regardless of the Portugal v Holland result. Holland has to win with by at least 2 goals to go through and hope Germany wins against Denmark.

Even if they lose to Denmark and Portugal wins, we have 3 teams with 6 points. But if the points are the same, the first thing that counts is the direct result of the game between the two teams in question. Germany won against Portugal, so they would always stay in front of them, no matter what. It would then be 1. Denmark 2. Germany 3. Portugal |

Because there are 3 teams on equal points, the head to head of ALL the games between them are counted.
If Denmark defeats Germany, Germany defeats Portugal, Portugal defeats Denmark, the head to head for all of them are 1W1L. Then the tiebreaker between them will be goal difference, followed by number of goals scored. Again, only the games between them are counted (ie. the games against Netherlands are out of the picture). |

Unfortunately, Karagounis (pictured above) won't be playing. But Maniatis (below) will eat her soul

I hope we don't mirror the Holland-Denmark game. 5-6 huge chances, only one goal. Denmark has one chance and scores too.
At the moment, all it takes would be a late goal for Portugal (quite possible, since Holland needs to open up and risk goals) and a goal for Denmark, and Germany is out with 6 points ... my my. We're not playing bad, we're just not converting our chances. Holland knows how well that works. |

Oh man, Germany was realy slow, sometimes. No ideas in the front, not much movement.. But sometimes, it works out nicely. Lukas Podolski made a goal on his 100th international game. Congrats to him. I think Germany could win agains Greece but we will loose hard against Spain or other high class teams.

So in the end it will be Greece against Germany on Friday... cool, that will be very funny.
Nonetheless, save for another miracle occuring, Germany has one of the two best approaches against the boring football of Barcelona that Spain, France and Russia imitate the other being Italy and Greece disciplined defense (with different formations for obvious reasons). |

Whether or not it's going to be sufficient remains to be seen. We also have options to go for a more offensive setup (Reus, Schürrle), but it was felt to be unnecessary so far. I am convinced however that any game against Spain/Italy/France would be very very close. "Losing hard" is what will not happen. No way. |
