I hope the animated movie reignite an interest in making a possible remake closer to the manga. I have rewatched the anime, entirely, and it pretty much end in a filler episode, leaving an unfinished taste in the mouth. It didnt help that the main antagonist of the manga have been adapted out.

There are only about 10 males throughout the years of anime that I consider to be good characters. Ryo Saeba is definitely one of them. And whenever there's a poll about characters in the 80s in anime in Japan, he wins the male character poll easily. Especially from the female vote. Yes, his antics are definitely despicable at times. You wouldn't replicate them in reality. But the guy came through in the clutch and was an action legend. The whole point of Ryo's character was to underestimate him then realise how genuine he was and that you would never want to cross him.
Hearing that the trio of female leads from Cat's Eye will be in this just upped the ante. That's a double dose of 80s goodness.

I reread the manga recently, and yeah, Ryo's antics probably wouldn't fly nowadays. The anime adaptation back then already toned them down a lot and I noticed the manga started doing the same near the end (a lot less boners/mokkoris).
But yes, Ryo is definitely one of the greatest manga/anime protagonist of all time. He's so much more than a pervert.
