There's some justification for it... a hero-killing villain would be exactly the sort of person who the villain alliance would have gone looking to recruit. In that respect it's not surprising that he ended up with them or that he came along on this attack. It is somewhat contrived that he just happened to end up off where Kouta was, alone, away from everyone else.

Oh wow, I can only imagine what sort of permanent repercussions this will have for his arm. D=
"Further beyond" indeed. I think this is what defines One For All though. It's not "just" super strength. It seems to be a power that specifically responds to passion and desperation. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that's all it is, but both users have expressed an ability to "go beyond" when the need arises, so it's clear that this is one of the ability's features. |

At times it feels as if Deku was the Avatar, this is the second time he sees the past holders of OFA and goes beyond what even he thinks its possible, its so Avatar state-like I kinda start missing Avatar

Not the most well structured, original or tactical fight this ep, but certainly a villain you wanted to lose, and a hero you wanted to win. if Edward Elric hadn't already proved the world-beating quality of muscular shorties, Deku has now. I just wish Uraraku could see him like that sometime...

Yeah a Hero Killer joining a team to Kill Heroes isn't really a contrivance. |

"Yes, that's it, Midoriya. Look past the fleshy muscles. Look through the dull glow of this artificial eye and see your enemy."
"...that's impossible." "Not impossible, inevitable." Honestly, not a fan of this fight though. Emotion or not, it was basically Very Strong Dude vs. Occasionally Extremely Strong Dude. Not much going for it except a lot of punching and some Power of Determination saving the day. It's got emotional content, but as far as action scenes go, almost no sense of progression, choreography, or even exploiting the space of the fight. To quote DBZ Abridged... "we just need to hit him really really hard" is all there is to the fight itself.

Well, I won't say you're wrong. Izuku's never had formal training to match that level of power, he has to gain it the old fashioned way by getting the crap kicked out of him until he learns. Not to mention Muscular and the terrain itself prevented him from trying anything clever. He would have been run down if he fled.

Well that was pretty good. I had been a bit distracted with the OTHER superhero event that's taking over the nation this weekend.
But I made time to get back to Boku no Hero once again. Magne and Spinner are okay villains so far though Spinner seems like he's going to be the dumb one of the group. Magne's reputation was better than his actual presence in the episode. Dabi is the smartest one we've seen so far, but we also get an idea now that they are interested completely in the students this time around and not the pro-heroes protecting them, unlike last time. And they seem to have targets on a list that each of them are assigned to. Muscle guy confirmed Midoriya was on the list but that Bakago was his target. An interesting development there. Also, is it just me or does Muscle guy (can't remember if he had an actual name?) look a little like Bakago? Hmm... And then it IS rather a contrived convenience that the exact same villain that killed Kota's parents, got away with it (you'd think to catch the murderer of superheroes to be a larger priority than it seems like in this world.), and just so happen to have joined this vanguard that attacks this camp that Kota just so happens to be at. The character himself is rather one note and his power is okay but nothing we haven't seen before. This is more about Izuku and strengthening his resolve as a true hero. However, I feel that once again while he was thinking a lot, he didn't think very strategically. This was honestly one of those times where the "cut-and-run" strategy would have been more effective. Rather than facing the guy head on and telling the kid to run, it would have been better to take Kota and get down the cliff in the forest and do more guerrilla tactics during one of a couple of times that the guy was under some rubble. Honestly, if the Muscle guy was a bit smarter and came at Midoriya from any other direction than head-on, the kid would have been taken down. One hard sucker punch would have blindsided him. And then what would the kid have done then? If Muscle Guy overpowers you Midoriya then it would not take him long to get to the kid and kill him. Also, you have destroyed your body for any future confrontations you might have. I really think employing your speed rather than your strength was the key here once you discovered that a 100% punch did nothing. I mean, even All Might has to use 100% many times to defeat a villain like that. I do like how Izuku is building on All Might's attacks by employing double state/city name attacks. I'm thinking the arbitrary number of 1,000,000% is just his adrenaline going overboard and creating Izuku's version of hysterical strength in order to protect Kota. As wonderful as it was to see, I don't think it's something Izuku should be doing normally as he hasn't even gotten the hang of 100% yet. The display of gore this episode really got me, and I'm excited to see what comes of that. It's interesting that Todoroki isn't affected by the gas, but Bakago has to keep a hand over his mouth. What happened to poor Ragdoll? So far, of all the shown new villains Dabi is still the most interesting, but we'll see how that continues as we go on.

Just took a look at the Eng Dub version of the latest episode and I actually found the voices to match the characters quite well. The Eng dub has gotten better over the years, I think (even the acting ability of the voice actors improved). They seem to try to find voices most similar to the Japanese ones.

You know, I wonder, are these coincidences really something worth complaining about? Coincidences happen in fiction all the time. Hell, they happen in real life. Like humanity or even any life on earth wouldn't exist if events didn't conspire to make them happen right then and there. You might as well complain about the contrived coincidence that lead to Deku meeting his role model, who just happens to have a quirk that can be passed down.

It's only convenient because Deku won. In reality, if he didn't that wouldn't have been so "convenient." And the author's power to make coincidences happen is what make fiction interesting so complaining is honestly pointless. @Gan well I'd argue the raw emotion in this fight was all that mattered. The actual battle itself didn't need to be clever to be amazing. Hell, DBZ fights are amazing because of the emotion.

I loved loved loved this episode, I've watched more than once, this has me respect Izuku than ever, he was always my favorite character but this episode had me admire him so much. I wish others were around to see but no oh well at least it had the kid finally see things about him.
