Agreed. I figured it'd either start with her getting the outfit, or with her actually ending up in an "other world" (if I understood the story description.

Probably going to be episode 2. Still an odd choice for an opening episode.

So... did she buy the bear suit in the game's cash shop or got it from lootboxes I'm guessing? She seems like the whale type. Also, what's with NPC being able to acknowledge or identify vanity gear? Is it trying to be like Westworld or something?

Emphasis on making friends because Yuna seems to be so independent that all she needed was her VR headset and her stock-watching PC setup to earn a luxury.
The biggest thing to keep in mind about this episode is that it really doesn't provide an actual idea of what the series is really about and is more about trying to garner the interest of those who have no real knowledge of the title (and in a very poor manner to those with actual knowledge of the title).

I wonder if there are any penalties of losing everything after dying in the game?
Nobody except this bear girl took up this challenge of beating a giant snake.
Is it not fun giving a try?
I don't know, but it felt so weird that everyone looked so seriously discouraged and Yuna is the only one who had a "meh" face. Really, right after this Kai boy showed up, i mean what is up? Are people in the building playing some kind of role playing inside a game or something?

So, does she temporarily enter a parallel world when she logs in, or does she get sent to a parallel world later, or is there no other world at all?

Most of episode one should be... I'd say somewhere around episode 5 instead. Starting in the middle, and surrounding that story by unrelated scenes that make it look like something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from the real story... Not what I'd consider the best approach.

Also, Yuna's voice is all wrong.

The people in the guild aren't players. Nor are they NPCs. For that matter, Yuna isn't a "player" by that point either.

Spoiler for I suppose I should throw this in spoiler tags, even though people have already talked about it openly.:

Are they going to cover everything they skipped as a backstory?

It literally fooled me. i mean even after everyone finds out Yuna killed the giant snake, the act was never dropped, people "acted" like they are witnessing a "legend" here. I thought, "people are really having fun playing this game". Maybe everyone set Yuna up, knowing she would handle everything since she is the strongest, including that certain blond male "player" took part of this skit "waiting for someone".
Just seeing the reactions of the father and son NPC from the village, did not take a girl in a bear costume pajamas seriously, yeah i mean seriously? AIs are programmed to react to the DLC costume seriously?

Knowing Yuna did not have to go to school since she has no money problems, that there is no issue of her playing the game very often. During her narration, she said she is "living" in this VR world, so i misunderstood all those people inside the building are kind of like Yuna who have lot of free time on their hands spending time more often "living" inside the game worldIt literally fooled me. i mean even after everyone finds out Yuna killed the giant snake, the act was never dropped, people "acted" like they are witnessing a "legend" here. But in reality, i have been played..

What's happening here is basically the studio trying to have their cake and eat it too by doing a first episode that is set later in the series and then having it end with a prologue that sets up the actual start of the story next week. The end result: something that will confuse those people are not familiar with the light novel/manga.

I just watched it and the fact that I wasn't paying attention at all after the first few minutes says a lot, I don't think I will keep following this show.

So its basically isekai trash pretending to be Bofuri? Hmm. I should have known as soon as I saw the stock circle city the first scene.

I have the feeling that since Bofuri was popular, they want to change Kumał genre from isekai to VRMMO (like Bofuri aka unstopple One Girl Army Corps). They might be gauging right now the viewers reaction, if there is no huge backslash, they will change the plot.

It kind of reminds me of Satou from Death March series.
Yuna scrolled the transparent UI on thin air, seeing many things.
After i was told this isn't a game, but an actual Isekai, it was rather a plot twist for me.
No, I didn't read the description.

While Bofuri is indeed the first thing that came to mind when I saw the key art for the series (especially given how I've read ahead of Bofuri, thus having the key art making me think of something that I really wish Bofuri's second season can get to), Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear actually predates Bofuri by a couple of years.

Again, this is a result of EMT^2 poorly executing the type of first episode that serves as a preview of what to expect once the story picks up.

Seems the intent of this first episode was literally fool the viewers into thinking this is another genre? and the plot of the episode was because they have a debut a pair of weeks before so when the real debut happens they properly start the story? I don't know how to feel about it as a fan of the WN (don't know how different is the LN).

Episode 2 (aka episodes 1,2,3, and probably 4):

I have absolutely no idea what this anime studio is doing. They're fast-forwarding through things at a crazy rate, and showing nothing for it. They've skipped a whole bunch of the best parts of the series, and given us basically nothing worth seeing in exchange. It's not like they're skipping to the exciting parts, because several of the exciting parts are the things they skipped. And it's not like they're focusing on the slice of life and cute parts either, because they skipped most of those too. And many of the parts they did deign to show us are uninteresting and lacking in context.

This may be the most horrific butcher job I've ever seen performed in adapting a popular series to anime form.

So, I assume this's going the direction of Make My Abilities Average then, large-scale hack-and-slash. Well then, I'll refrain from reading until after I've watched the whole thing so I'm not screaming at the screen about how they cut A, B and C and ruined X, Y and Z.

But from a complete outsider's perspective, this episode wasn't too bad. Made a lot more sense than the first episode, and the characters are certainly cute. I think I'll enjoy this.

Yeah, I'm not gonna comment on the source coz anime-only, but they clearly set up the entire episode on the encounter between Yuna and little Fina. Anything else will be trimmed. This means that this show may be enjoyable ONLY if you're not reading the source because the production team seems to be planning to tweak the story to better fit the anime runtime.

Speculation: Is it possible that the coverage of the show was able to fit 11 episodes, leaving them with one extra episode? That should explain the out-of-place "Episode 1" that they decided to pre-air.
