Kabaneri of The Iron Fortress Movie
Noitamina just announced a new Kabaneri anime, coming for 2018. They describe it as a new anime project (either new TV anime/season 2). Teaser announcement: Source (from official twitter) https://twitter.com/anime_kabaneri/s...72471111524352 http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...n-2018/.109932

There's also going to be a drama CD as well. New anime in production for 2018 so it probably won't be ready for awhile.

Color me surprised. I thought they'd give up on this series after no one showed up to their last fan event.
If they can go back to the quality of the initial eps and not shove another lame villain like Biba down our throats, it might be worth checking out. Otherwise they shouldn't bother.

I am surprised this is even getting second season. And I agree with Freeter - more zombie survival, world lore, emotional struggle and character development and less lame villains like Biba.
I honestly didn't think this would get season 2. In season 1 Capital is in ruins, Shogun dead and country leaderless. But if they focus on anti-Kabane fight, involve other foreign powers ( like US for example, giving how they woudl be isolated from Europe by ocean ) and actually present Kabane as force to be respected and one that can evolve as the fight progress than it can be promising anime. ANythign other than that will be yet another disaster. A final nail in the coffin for this franchise. |

Hey, can't say didn't see this coming even if Biba ruined the experience of the first season.
But hey Kuromitsu, is the staff at least is aware that Biba was a mistake as character? I'm curious. Looking forward this S2, it can't get worse now that Biba is no longer. P.S: Still surprised at the real life figure they made and called it a yo character . Last edited by Kuroageha; 2016-12-15 at 13:08. Reason: 12 years, really? |

I'm kind of surprised as well. After the way the series went....didn't really care if they did more .
Not that I wouldn't mind more of the show, just...do better. Biba was a bad villain and really the story got lazy. The whole world situation there and setting has good potential. They can do something with it. Just depends if they've learned anything from season 1 or not.

I'm very surprised to see this getting a second season considering the first one was already bad, it started with a strong premise and really good animation but that never changed the fact that after episode 5 -6 the series went into the trash. Bad writting, bad direction, cheesy plot, and a huge amount of characters being throw into the garbage.
Maybe they learned from their mistakes in season 1? I really doubt it. |

To be fair I liked the show and thought it was alright up until they reveal something about Biba after his first appearance. Watching the last five episodes made me feel like I'm enraged on the inside coupled with increasingly problematic writing and so-so characterization that didn't advance enough which is fortunately saved by a rather satisfying ending, even if I'm not content with some of the things it did. On the other hand, I'm glad the antagonist is dead for once and all.
If they keep making the audiovisuals look more of the same, I'd watch it, but I'm not holding my breath regarding the overall plot that will follow next. The only thing I'm very much looking forward is to see the revelation behind the Kabane, moreover it has potential to show us what happened outside Hinomoto, even better if it's both.

Eh, I'll probably pass on this myself. The 2nd half of the first just soured the whole show way too much for me to get invested in this again. The only good thing Kabneri excelled at was visual design even the first half, but that is just not enough for me anymore to slog through everything else.

You forgot episode 7, it was a great breather episode. Although Biba showed up in the last few minutes of that episode as his first appearance, I would have thought he's going to be a morally grey villain at the time, only for it to get contradicted the episode after.
