K-Lite is evil.

Angelpotion is another hack of Microsoft MPEG-4 V3, an old codec based on MPEG-4. DivX 3.x and SMR's NAVI were also hacks of MPEG-4v3.

Must get xv mode, and make sure the default brightness/gamma/saturtion is set correctly. I think some default values of sis/intel drivers are too high and xv mode may suck a lot (it could be tweaked, but I think less than 1% people do that).

Anyway, make sure accelerated video driver actually work. Then try different output modules. Like OpenGL in VLC or renderless mode in MPC (it use lots of CPU tho).

VLC is kinda useless because of softsubs, and some groups use softsubs because the video quality - filesize things.

all of them played the blood+ files async.

and i can't use mplayer under linux because he doesn't take xv/ogl/ogl2 output devices....vlc/kaffeine/xine under linux plays h264 with these green artefacts and audio problems...

i dunno. maybe i will switch back to my athlon

btw: hi maceart.. i am sure i know you from another forum.

clannad movie will come out 2007 :P

It seems like you have something more serious here... perhaps it's your video card? Cuz the insurgent output seemed normal to me...

i have the following settings:

core2duo e6300 2x1.86ghz
1024mb ddr2 ram
intel 945gzis board
geforce 7300le graphiccard with 256mb and 256mb turbo cache (512mb virtual memory)

maybe itÄs the turbocache? i will buy a new graphiccard next month. can you guys give me some advice what i should buy? but no sli quad system and i only want nvidia.

intel hda sound onboard (or soundblaster live! 5.1)

160gb sata2 harddisk.
lg dvd burner.

dunno what should be wrong with that settings

like i said, some files where async on my athlon too, but mostly hdtv and h264 and that was because i had a slow cpu.

and for the linux questions:

i use kanotix with 2.6.18 kernel.

because older kernels doesn´t know my cpu type. i use kanotix 2006 rc1 with x.org 7.1.

x.org 7.1. should know my graphiccard (geforce 7300le) but maybe its because of the turbocache that it doesnt work.

ive installed nvidia drivers with versions 8774 and the new beta drivers 9xxx

both of them know my graphiccard.

gefore 7300le/pci/sse2
opengl 2.0.2 (or 2.1 with the 9xxx driver)

xvinfo shows xv is active.

xine and kaffeine under kanotix (comes with kanotix) can play videos with xv and opengl output device.

async blood+

and green artefacted happiness h264 file.

when i try to install mplayer1.0pre8, xv,gl and gl2 output devices arent working....

strange. because my soundcard works with alsa and mplayer dont show alsa output

If your graphic card is really working, you should be able to use xv mode. Or else you may be using very slow VESA graphic, it can't do much except playing low resolution videos.

Try -framedrop or -hardframedrop, but do not expect much with non-accelerated videos.

I used -ao alsa with xfce
in gnome desktop normally it is -ao esd
and kde is -ao arts

i dunno which board exactly... i bought it as a complete system.

its "intel 945 gzis" written on the board.

dunno which exact chipset i have. linux says gz/pl/ etc....

i think only GM has onboard graphics.

like i said....the nvidia drivers have active xv/gl/gl2 output. xine/etc can display videos accelerated with xvb/gl / gl2 but mplayer on the other han d cant.

xine comes preinstalled with kanotix.

i am loading the mplayer sources and try to compile them on my sys .

output from configure.....

core2duo

sse: yes
sse2:yes
xv: no
opengl: no
alsa:no

so it doesnt recognize it. but its activated in the drivers. maybe it doesnt recognize it because the live cd doesnt overwrite the x.org config files correctly. and so mplayer still thinks the vesa driver from x.org is active.... i think thats the problem. so it should be solved with buying a new graphiccard...one that x.org 7.1 recognizes correctly. (with xv) :=)

the same goes for alsa. xine/kaffeine etc. work with alsa but mplayer doesnt recognize it. i know that i can force output with -ao als or -vo gl/xv/gl2 but it dont work when i dont have the output device or if mplayer doenst recognize it at "configure"....

when i make -vo xv or -ao alsa: output device is not aviable

MPlayer:

1) Get the current svn version, not pre8; MPlayer svn is stable and much better.
2) Install the libxv-dev package to get Xv support in MPlayer.
3) Installing the libasound2-dev package should get you ALSA support.

(Both package names are from Debian sarge. I assume they are the same or similar with your distribution.)

If configure still fails to detect Xv or ALSA, check configure.log to find out where it fails. If you get "undefined reference" errors when rebuilding MPlayer in an old/unclean source tree (where you built before) "make distclean", rerun configure and rebuild.

Ok. So, did you read my post, three above your own? Did you have any problems?

"help help" isn't too illuminative.
