Ironic, considering how "cinematic" AAA video gaming has become. The gaming industry has long been the graveyard of careers and businesses that wanted to be in or be the next Hollywood. A large number of customers are perfectly willing to accommodate that, because they love the idea of interactive stories more than raw game play.

I tried to play Arkham Assylum but the combat wasn't very exciting and I just kept getting lost, so for the other Arkham games I didn't even watch Let's Plays but movies...basically the cutscenes with relevant gameplay without the HUD and stuff...it was great...

^ I dunno, the themes present seem pretty dark. Like Gul'dan sacrificing a thousand Draenei to open the Dark Portal is shown pretty explicitly. Sure it might not have blood flowing left and right, but it won't be sunshine and rainbows (and it wouldn't surprise me if the trailers have been sanitised somewhat).

New ‘Warcraft’ Trailer Gives Peek At This Summer’s
3-D Epic Battle: "Worlds collide — at least a couple of them — in this new Warcraft trailer, just released from Legendary Pictures. The 30-second spot gives a glimpse at this coming summer’s 3-D adventure based on Blizzard Entertainment’s fantasy universe. Also bad and generic dialogue. It implies that the story of the movie is about "humans save the world against the orcs", but the actual story is about uniting for a greater cause than racial supremacy.

Nothing extraordinary, but it's kind of interesting that the conversation between the quarter ton cartoon pork rinds has caught my attention more than all the scenes with the humans talking to eachother.

I have done this quite the few times myself, and the number of them today who do this is very, very high. They are after all the primary income of so many 'Let's play' YouTubers. |

I watched the movie today and was very pleasantly surprised , it was good ! I never really followed Warcraft universe apart form playing war3 and tft but it came perfectly understandable. The special effects were top notch, perhaps a little too much but I enjoyed it.

It's quite interesting. The movie is getting a ton of hate from the critics, and receiving overwhelming Rotten as its review.
But the gaming fans who got to see the movie, the core audience the movie is aimed for, are generally praising the film. It seems to be the case of non-video game enthusiasts just simply not "getting" it. To be fair, I think one of the goal for cinema adaptation is to make it palatable for the general audience, especially if they intend to broaden the interest and draw people into their franchise. For that purpose, this movie may have failed. I myself am a long time Warcraft fan & player, so I have no doubt I'll enjoy this film. Unfortunately due to invested interest, I doubt I can make an objective criticism for it.
